I'm sorry if I'm not in the right forum, I hesitated with the technical probs, but since it deals with dbs, I thought it would be better to put it in (if it's not the case, could you please move it).
Here's my problem:
I have a one and half year carrier with a custom Razer team (mostly american, but some other nationalities in the 2nd year: Langeveld, Scholz, Kritskiy... etc) in the ElectroZenshu DB. Results are here, not far from going to ProTour, but I'd really like to recruit Sagan for the next year.
He's not in the db, I didn't know him when I started my career, and I have no time to start another one. So I wonder if it's possible to modify an already existing rider in the career (name, age, stats... etc), in order to get him later. |

Sure.
Not sure how much experience you got with editing, but you can open save games in the same way that you open a regular DB. I suggest using either the Hannes Converter or the Full Editor. The first one works well with save games (loads much faster than the Full Editor).
In DYN_cyclist, make a new line and make sure to give Sagan a unique ID. Then fill out the rest of the columns. If you want him among the free agents, you don't need to alter any other tables (make sure to set a 0 in fkIDxchange_cyclist). If you want him on your team, you need to give him a contract (DYN_contract_cyclist) and insert the ID of the contract in fkIDxchange_cyclist.
Both of the editors are somewhat complicated, so you could give it a try with one of the easier editors, e.g. the one that comes with the game. I'm not sure, though, how well they work on save games. |

I have done some editing on pcm05, it was quite simple with hannes. I'll try as you say, and I'll tell you if it works.

Hello back.
I've tried to use Hannes, reached to open the dyn_cyclist table, but there are a lot of column I don't understand, and moreover, I see no change when I load the career (the cyclist doesn't appear).
I haven't found a tutorial for it, so I'm a bit lost... |

The most easy way is to open your file with Hannes Editor (not converter) and edit one of the most weak riders

Another tip: if you don't know what a column means and it starts with fk (foreign key) look up the parent table and 9 out of 10 times it's easy to guess what it means. e.g. fkIDTeam is the key(ID) to the parent table DYN_Team. |

Yes, it works. But like a "cosmetic" programm. You can edit cyclists' parameters, manes of teams, but I don't advise to make anything else with Editor

Anyway it's 30/06 in my career, so I have to do this before continuing to play, I'll search a tuto when I have time (don't like the exams period...) |

Here is my advice:
1. Use the editor of the game to create sagan in the default database.
2. Open the just created database with Hannes Converter and write down or copy the values of Sagan
3. Make a copy of your save (just in case you mess up the editing)
4. Open your save and add Sagan (just paste it into an empty row and make sure that cyclistId is unique)

I've tried your solution Lachi and it works quite well, thank you, but I still have two problems:
- Sagan is still 18 while he should be 20, even if I try to change his age in the dyn_cyclist table
- when I try to sign him, he wants a 0 year contract and refuse my proposition |

To be honest, it is not clever to wait until 1/1. You should be able to do it anytime. The reason for doing it earlier is quit simple, the new race calender will be created between 12/31 and 1/1 (and you don't want to do that by hand, don't you) |

You have to set the age and the birth year in the DB, did you change both?
Can you offer him a contract? If yes, then you could edit that offer just after you have sent it (with the converter). Easier would be to just add him to your team right now or for the next year. In both cases you would need to add a contract (DYN_contract_cyclist). Just copy one from another rider of your team, either an actual one or one for the next season. |

I first only set the birth date, but when I saw the problem, I tried to change his age, with no result. I'll try again to be sure (not at home tonight, so I'll try tomorrow).
For the contract, you can forget it, I don't know why, but I insisted and he accepted the contract. I'll see how it works when I'll renew him.

Yes, it's what I did for the overall notation, which originally was 0. I let one day pass, and it was ok then. But not for the age.
Now I have to find a pic for him, change this depressed mental, and add some favourites races, and I think it will be done.
And just because I'm sooo happy I can go on with this career and this new pearl, here is my team and my recruits for the 2011 season (where I should be in pro tour, early july, 1st continental team with more than 1k points ahead BBox, and 2k ahead Centri della Calzatura):
2010 team (custom: Razer Pro Gaming, start with 120k):
Leaders: Langeveld (recruited in 2010 in place of Van Garderen), Stetina, Lacombe (leaves end 2010)
Others: Scholz, Lang, O'bee (leaves end 2010), Zirbel, Gusev (nat champ), Van Winden, Nordhaug, Kristkiy, Baugnies plus some american fictive riders
Recruits for 2011: Boasson Hagen ( ), Bos (, new leader), Gastauer, Sagan, Porte, and Schäfer
In discussion with: Knees, Mangel, Devenyns (hard one to get)
Other possibilities: Oliveira, Vandevelde, Monfort, Dowsett, Cador, Brajkovic, De Jongh...

I'm sorry but I have a new problem... still with Sagan
I created him in 2010 as a free agent, and recruited him in July until 2011, but... it doesn't appear in the team on 01/01/2011.
I've tried to add it manually to my team with hannes converter, but the game crashes each time I try to access his profile.
I've created him a contract, I changed his team in dyn_cyclist and put the correct fkidchange_cyclist, but it doesn't work, even if I pass a day.
I'm stuck... |

I guess that one of his settings is wrong. I have seen something similar with youth riders but I cannot remember which value it was. Make sure that all values starting with "fk" are valid. |

Well, I've tried again your previous advice and I copy the values of another rider of my team, and it works (thank you again)
The only problem is that he doesn't have the status he was intended to, I've understood how to change it, but I'll try later, afraid of crashing everything one more time as I am ^^
I'm still trying to change some things, I prgress little by little and learn the use of more tables.
I'd like to add some news teams to WC (slovakia, finland...), and to simulate more NC, but it will be for later I think. I already have to change the pic for Sagan |
