After Red Bull's complete dominance on the 2nd stage, they will have another shot here at the 3rd stage. Unlike the two previous stages, there's some hills and bumps on the roads here which may have some influence on the stage. There's also a lot of wind, so this may end up being a very, very tiring stage.
... as it turned out, though, no one were interested in anything else than a sprint. No attacks and no intermediate sprints, meaning that we fast-forward to the last 10 km.
And luckily for the stage reporter, something did happen - but very unlucky for others as three LEGO-riders, Hubert Schwab, Allain and Moschella, plus Quiksilver's Mercado went to the ground.
Up front, the Bbox team had decided to copy Red Bull's tactic - and had success with it. Veilleux, Gottfried and Wei ended up alone in the front while the rest were fighting behind.
And with 1 km to go, it was looking like a victory for Gottfried. The peloton wasn't coming nearer, probably due to the fact that it was a downhill sprint.
And while Red Bull got a 1-2-3 on the 2nd stage, Bbox did exactly the same on this one! Victory for Gottfried ahead of Wei and Veilleux.
