La Tropicale Amissa Bongo - Stage 3
SportingNonsense
Pokerstars' Marco Brus begins the attacks, and is joined in the days breakaway by Forster, Lloyd, Scarponi, Eliad, Thill, Remme and Brolin
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo38.jpg

Brus also takes the first sprint, ahead of Remme and Lloyd
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo39.jpg

Then the first KoM, and protecting the lead of teammate Dviri, Eliad takes the points, infront of Thill and Brolin
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo40.jpg

With 55km to go, some more attacks from the peloton - Sagan, Jallays, Barrio and Pacheco
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo41.jpg

Forster is the best sprinter in the break, but again he doesnt win the next intermediate sprint - beaten by Dan Lloyd, with Scarponi 3rd
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo42.jpg

With 32km to go, a particularly surprising move - race leader Haedo attacks! He passes the group of Sagan, Jallays, Barrio, and Pacheco
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo43.jpg

Flugel, Froome and Roux also attack
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo44.jpg

Haedo catches the break towards the top of the climb, but Thill takes the points ahead of Eliad and Scarponi
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo45.jpg

Over the top, the break and the attackers are all brought back. So Haedo's response? Attack again. Youd have thought his best move would have been to get his team to chase after any attacks, but it seems not
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo46.jpg

Bagdonas follows Haedo, while soon after so does Gerrans, Roux and Froome
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo47.jpg

Roux and Froome take an advantage over the other 3
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo48.jpg

Now Bellis goes, followed by Rast, Bole and Roche
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo49.jpg

Bellis joins up with Froome and Roux, while the other 3 join the Haedo chase group
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo50.jpg

Bertagnolli goes next, and catches the group with 10km to go
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo51.jpg

The advantage of Bellis, Froome and Roux is closed, and so Roche now tries a new move from this group of 10
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo52.jpg

But the final intermediate sprint is near, and so Roche's move is cancelled out by the sprint of Bellis. But Roche still manages 2nd in the sprint, with Froome 3rd - gaining some important bonus seconds
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo53.jpg

Closing in on the final hill, and the finish line, its clear that these 10 will decide the stage, and by definition, almost certainly the overall GC in this race aswell
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo54.jpg

The final KoM point is inside the final kilometre, and if Bagdonas manages to get a Top 2 in it, he could take the KoM jersey
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo55.jpg

But Bagdonas is struggling towards the back as Bellis crosses first ahead of Bole and Roux
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo56.jpg

And immediately the sprint begins, with Bellis on the front
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo57.jpg

But Anthony Roux is looking strong
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo58.jpg

Roux is not known for his sprint, but he takes the lead
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo59.jpg

And Roux takes victory! Bellis crucially hangs on to take 2nd from a fast closing Bertagnolli - and for this, Bellis takes over the race lead. Bertagnolli does hold onto the points jersey though.
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo60.jpg

Bagdonas and Haedo faded, and perhaps should have been given a gap. But they werent, so Haedo is now very well placed to attack the race lead on the final 2 sprint stages
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/CTC1/bongo61.jpg

Over a minute later, Flugel leads in the peloton, ahead of the Wiggle duo of Scarponi and Diggle
