Excerpt from page 8:
"...As the 2014 season starts, several questions remain unanswered. Who will win the Tour? What about the other Grand Tours? Will Boonen regain his throne as the spring classic master before his career draws to a close? These are just a few of the subjects we are going to investigate..."
Excerpt from page 10:
"...This years Vuelta a España will be a tough one, with severel tough stages. No less than five top finishes, and over 150 kilometers of time trial, spent over three individual ones and the opening stage with 45 kilometers of team time trial. There is no doubt this race will be a tough one, and we are guessing the best time trialists from the climbers are going to do well.
Apple-Ford, named Future Breed Machine last year, is without limits. In only four years they have gone from newly started to a top ProTour team. With riders such as Maxime Monfort (ITT World Champ 2011, 3rd place Giro 2013), Jack Bobridge (ITT World Champ 2012, Peter Sagan, Taylor Phinney, Rigoberto Uran (5th place Giro 2013) and Ricardo Vilele they will surely be present in both the springclassics and one or more of the Grand Tour. Along with these hotshots, they have the promising sprinter Stanley Walton who's been challenging the elite of sprinters of late. During the autumn last year, he beat Mark Cavendish twice (!!) in the Eneco Tour, crowning the stage race with the points jersey. One of their team captains, Maxime Monfort, will surely be a man to watch out for in the Vuelta. It is allready confirmed that Apple-Ford have targeted the Vuelta and Monfort will probably be their main rider there..."

Obviously I will try to maintain the level of detail. This will be upheld by me only writing detailed about the races that matter;
- Board goals
- Sponsor goals
- Personal Favorites |

Roster 2014
As far as I can comprehend, our squad is amongst the best in the ProTour division. The only thing lacking is a contender for the Tour de Fance, a stage race we at the moment don't stand too much of a chance of winning. With the superior stage racers Alberto Contador, Alejandro Valverde, France Pelizotti and Andy Schleck present, our participation is not very likely. Our main focus will be set for the spring classics, the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España. Also, we have some surrounding races we are targeting. All in all, our squad should be more than compatible to succeed.
Board goals:
- Win the Vuelta a España
- Finish within the Top 5 in Ronde van Vlaanderen
Sponsor goals:
- Finish within the Top 5 in Vattenfall Cyclassics
- Finish within the Top 10 in the World Championships
- Finish within the Top 5 in Amstel Gold Race
Roughly planned raceprogram to prepare for Spring Classics and the Giro:
- Tour Down Under
- Vuelta á Andalucia
- Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (Will be reported)
- Paris Nice (Will be reported)
- Tirreno Adriatico (Will be reported)
- Milan San Remo (Will be reported)
- Volta Ciclista a Catalunya
- Dwars door Vlaanderen (Will be reported)
- Gent - Wevelgem (Will be reported)
- Ronde van Vlaanderen (Will be reported)
- Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco
- Paris - Roubaix (Will be reported)
- Amstel Gold Race (will be reported)
- La Fleche Wallone (Will be reported)
- Liege - Bastogne - Liege (Will be reported)
- Tour de Romandie
Of course, our 30 riders will be disposed over the races to maximize capacity and minimize racedays for our riders. The season is without a doubt a long one, and after the Giro our team will be given a 5 week vacation until the middle of July, where we begin gearing up for the Vuelta. |

Simply training, but it's been four years. All of mye best riders, except Uran, has been there from the start. So I guess they've been trained the right way. |

I suppose you've never been using the scouting map?
Noticed the pink flag in your roster which probably means that you don't have the correct Local.cdb. Did you try moving the Local.cdb from Program Files/Cyanide/PCM/PCM.daily DB Backup to My Docs/PCM?
Other than that, it looks interesting |

If you are refering to me, CT, five of my riders are scouted. These are Harriet, Knight, Walton, Beaubey and Natalino.
Yeah, I was betatesting another DB, so the Local.cdb is probably a bit off. I'll see if it works. |

Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
Gent - Gent 199.0 km
As one of my personal favorites, this spring classic was chosen as a part of our preperations for the real classics. Taylor Phinney won this race last year, and as he hasn't become less of a rider, I am more or less expecting him to win this year aswell. To aid him in this race, we are sending six helpers - none of them skilled enough with cobbles to earn a co-captainship.
Team for Omloop Het Nieuwsblad:
Taylor Phinney (Captain), Stanley Walton, Romain Zingle, Peter Sagan, Iganatas Konovalovas, Tejay Van Garderen, Niklas Arndt
Thoughts on the race:
Obviously, none of our riders are in particulary good shape. Hopefully, the few contenders for the first place aren't either. Our only real opponent in this years race around Gent is Philippe Gilbert - but I sincerely doubt he is in good shape. He is probably targeting the Paris - Roubaix and Amstel Gold Race. This is also his first race this season.
For our own part, I have told my boys todays tactics. The importance lies in protecting Phinney and Sagan from winds, maintaining position in the front half, and use Phinneys superiority to make cracks in the Peloton. Sagan is a good uphillrider as well as an adequate cobbelstone rider, så hopefully Sagan will have som energy left to help Phinney in the final stages of the race. If we have two or more riders left when we face the Wolvenberg-climb, I'd be rather happy. From there on and out, things should be fairly easy if we have for example Walton, Sagan and Phinney in the front. The Molenberg coming up shortly after, will be were we make our stand - and attack. From hereon and out it's all Taylor Phinney. |

These are the best stageracers. As you can see, beating the likes of Contador, Schleck, Cobo and Pelizotti could prove to be quite a hassle. |

It should perhaps be mentioned that you use the Random Potential setting.
Good luck with the race

Omloop Het Nieuwsblad - excerpt from page 7-9
This years Omloop Het Nieuwsblad was... well, not as exciting as it could've been. The only two real contenders where Philippe Gilbert and Taylor Phinney. The race was more or less completely lifeless the first 80 km, before embarking on the uphill- and cobbled sections. One by one the riders fell off, and only the strongest survived. As the peloton closed in on Wolvenberg, this finally got interesting!
As the riders embarked on the Wolvenberg climb, it really started cracking up. Obviously, the Apple-Ford Breed team was in good shape, represented by no less than five riders in the front. Could this turn out to be a slaughter by the Breed?
The riders have just passed the top of the Molenberg climb, and four AFB riders have broken loose. We are no more than 45 kilometers away from the finish - could this be the final blow?
The peloton is in a state of utter chaos! Walton suffers to a puncture, whilst Zingle, Sagan and Phinney wheels away - only to see the peleton disappear in the wake.
Zingle is done, and Sagan spends his last drops of energy to shield Phinney. The victory is within reach for the young American!
As Phinney passes the 5 km left sign, he's managed to earn a lead of 1:45 bak to the peloton! All Phinney has to do now, is to stay on his bike!
He does it, and in supreme fashion! The young American eventually clocked in over two minutes before the second place, and his first cobblestone race victory of the year is assured. Will this be a year of success for Taylor Phinney?
Overall, this result is simply fantastic. We get a chance to practice cooperation, we win the race and Sagan and Zingle get themselves som respectable results aswell. I'm quite sure Stanley Walton would've been up there aswell if he hadn't punctured in the final stages. All in all this isn't exactly a big triumph, as there weren't too many real contenders, but a victory is a victory - and starting the season with a bang is more than welcome!
