Using the "dot" up mountains
cactus-jack
I've heard that this is a good way to get your men up mountains. What is a good way to use it? Should I just dot my rider on... 70?

You need to constantly be monitoring and changing it based on the tempo of the group.

If you are patient and willing to run up the mountain at x1, it is a great technique, otherwise, just use the stay where you are and relay commands.

I have all the time in the world.

When using this dot, while it mean that your riders are using far less energy than they normally would?

The main problem with mountains is the accordion effect. If you use the dot to keep the heart rate at reasonable values while your rider is still in the field then it will use less energy. If you use the dot to chase break aways (your rider is in the wind) then it uses same energy as relay.

If im gonna chase a break I use the the dot function and send my leader with a "protectionrider". Between 70 - 80 depending on the distance to the top.
When my rider is catching the other one I have used my support rider and my leader is now ready to go.

Hey guys maybe I´m really stupid but you´re always talking about a ´dot function´!
What do you mean with the dot?

CrueTrue
In the commands section, there's a one that looks like a dot. That's the dot command.

I sometimes use the dot up mountains in the start to avoid sudden enourmous heart rates because of accalerations. Then your rider will drop down the peloton but eventually the pack will slow down and your rider can get to the front of the peloton without using much energy. Better ride at 60% for 4 min than 90% for 2 min and then 30% for 2 min.

You can do that, but what if the leaders don't slow down? You better don't use this strategy on your leader at the important climbs.
