Tour Down Under was going to start and Cooke said that he felt very good and was in shape to take a victory today.
Laurent Dider was in Solo breakaway very long and took the sprint jersey but was cought by the pack before the mountain-sprint

When it was 3.5km to go Cooke was in a very good position and the other favorites wsa no were near the top

With 1.5km left Cooke was on a great position on the wheel to O´Grady but can he pass the Cervelo Rider?

Yes he can, He even got a big gap to second place

O´Grady manage to hold on good and ending up in 4 place with some other Saxo Bank rider near the top

GC:
1 Baden Cooke Saxobank
2 Tomas Vaitkus Radioshack
3.Martin Elmiger AGR2
4.Stuart O´Grady Saxobank
5.Matthew Goss HTC

Santos Tour Down Under Stage 2
In stage 1 Saxo Bank made an exellent spirint-train for Cooke and we hope we can repet that today on stage 2.
The race started with a breakaway as allways. we got Dider in it as planned.

They were cought as usually and with 3.5km left our sprint-train was looking very good.

O'Grady exploded when it was he's turn and he and Cooke got a little lead.

Its not far from goal and it looks like Saxo Bank can make a double.

Yes, O'Grady can keep Davies and The Sky riders behinf him and completes the double

A happy Winner.

Santos Tour Down Under Stage 3
Cooke has won both stages in Tour Down Under and we hope he can acchive that again today.
As allways there is a breakaway, Dider is there as we wanted.

they are cought as usually and with 4km left and its not looking good for Cooke that couldn´t take O´Gradys whell and are a bit further down. so we are racing for O´Grady in this race now.

Pozzato Crasch. Not good for Pozzato that was in a very good position.

The Sprint starts and O´Grady leads with Davies on the whell.

With 800 metres too go the fight for first place stands between O´Grady, Elmiger, Arvesen and Davies

Arvesen wins it.

Santos Tour Down Under Stage 4
In an Interview before the stage Cooke said he was aiming for victory.
The race begun with a solobreakaway with a very good rider, L.L Sanchez
He was cought with 7km
The sprint was started with Cooke on the wheel to O´Grady what was behind Davies but the Fight for first place stood by Goddaert, Cardoso and Sutton

But Davies acclerated in the and did nearly pass but he didn´t and Goddaeat takes the win.

Santos Tour Down Under Stage 5
Stage 5 is the queen stage of Tour Down Under race since we are going to pass 2 times the Willunga Hill, the longest and steepest climb of Tour Down Under. Our hope is too keep Cookes lead.
Todays breakaway did never get a real gap and was cought before Willunga Hill.

The second time the pack past Willunga Hill there was some attacks and O´Grady joined the attacks.

The 2 strongets attackers was O´Grady and Geslin that had a gap of 1 minute with 15 km left.

When the sprint started it was clear that Geslin had much more power left then O´Grady

And Geslin takes an easy wins and the overall lead from Cooke

Cooke is 22 seconds after Geslin.

Cooke takes 3rd place in front off 3 Caisse d'Epargne riders, 47 seconds after Geslin. With todays results Geslin allmost secured the leader jersey.
Only a fall or breakaway can take the win from him.

Santos Tour Down Under Stage 6
The last stage of Tour Down under is made for the sprinters.
Our Goal is of course a win today.
It was a big breakaway with 16 riders today, but they never relly got away and had as most a gap at 1.30 minutes. they were caught with 20 km left.

With 11 km left there was a big crasch in the peleton with 32 riders involved with names like Boasson Hagen and McEwen.

The only rider that got injuried was Gretsch from Columbia.

The sprint started with Davis in the lead with Cooke on he´s wheel and T.Bos at he side.

Before the last corner Cooke tries to get past Davis.

The fight for 1 place stands by Cooke, Davis, Avermaet and Goss. Bos is going to be 5rd.

Its so tight, Who is first of Davis and Cooke?

Spoiler Davis is 1rd. Unlucky for Cooke that takes 2rd, Avermaet is 3rd and Goss is 4rd
The first race of the season was a succes for Saxo Bank and im very happy with our performece in Tour Down Under with 2 stage wins and on 2rd and 3rd place in the GC
