First ever Friday night game last night. Done for TV money.
French look like winners now this year. |

Yep, Italy and Scotland are both playing well which is nice, although France look likely to cruise to the Grand Slam

Have to agree, France are pretty much certain for the Grand Slam this year.
The thing that has impressed me most about them is the work of their pack ,especially the 2 back row players of Dusautoir and Harinordoquy. France have missed Serge Betsen, and these 2 have started to fill in the gap.
England have been as poor as ever. Why can't we actually run the ball (where we do well) instead of the aimless kicking game that they seem to have been instructed to do?

Well martin Johnson never played the running game as a player so it's unrealistic to expect him to do so as a manger.
Also, whats with the obsession with the French outside centre, not sure how to spell his name, he scored a couple of tries against Italy but doesn't seem to be anything more than a big strong guy.

Basteraud?
There's excitement around him mainly because he's a big strong guy.
6ft - 17 stone - that's huge, even by rugby standards.
The French see him sort of as a French Jonah Lomu - he's so powerful he just shrugs off tackles.
And there's also lots of attnetion about him because of this:

And now for Ireland against England.
I reckon Ireland to win by 10

Yeah, I saw that, but I have watched their Ireland and Wales games and he didn't seem to do anything special.

Just watch whenever he gets the ball. He hasn't made a big play yet, but every time he gets the ball he seems to get over the game line.
And England were today were very mediocre (which is a vast improvement on last week).
Our backs played fine, it was just our forwards who were abysmal again. They generated slow ball, and anytime that the Iriish started counter-rucking, they just fell to pieces and Ireland got turnover ball. Terrible

Tough second half for France it was in Millenium. I really enjoyed first half, but second one was quite boring, had to switch to snowboard, which also was uninteresting |

counter-rucking. that's a fun new word
on the subject of england, they were ok when they did run the ball in the second half of the second half, foden a great exponenet of that, but the first 60 minutes i could have pretty much not watched, even if i was irish. tom sexton showed great vision for two tries but otherwise it was dull, dull, dull. martin johnson should never have been coach. francis baron was an idiot in appointing him(no surprise). just because you were a good player does not mean you will be a good coach.
i think they should bring an impact player like shontayne hape on, to change the game and make it a bit more running rugby. he should also be there just because tait and flutey were pretty much non-existent. and where the hell is chris ashton? top try scorer pretty much everywhere and he still hasn't been given a chance.
anyhow rant over. wales and france. france were vey bad value for that win, nothing like the rampaging force against ireland. and wales, as always, all heart but no edge, no composure.
