It's more and more anoying.. The game keeps crashing and nothing seems to solve this problem. I have reduced the graphics eventhough my graphic-card should be powerfull enough to run it with full details. I have cleared the cache. I have reinstalled it twice. Second time including manual deletion of all files. But never the less it keeps crashing. I have ofcause installed both the newest patch and the security-patch. The db I'm using is PCMdaily2010DB.cdb. Usally the game crashes in the end of a race; but now its also when I click next. A left corner in the screen is pink and when I click the button down right to go to the race it hangs and then throws the error shown in the picture in the file..
I have bought two versions of this game now and both of them seem to crash and cannot run. The first I bought was season 2006 years back; and I never got to play the game because it always crashed. I liked the concept but I did now want to throw money out of the window so I haven't bought it until for 1 week ago where I decided to give it one more try. But it seems that the four years haven't made a differens to the crashing in the games. How the F**K can there still exist same problem in the game. I don't get how a company after 4+ years still can't get rid of beginner errors in a game. To me, as an engineer in computer science and development, I seriously can't understand how a serious company can proceed this manner. It's not my intention to offend anyone; I'm just frustrated that game that I would like so much is ruined by crashes in both versions I have spend my money on.

That looks as if it's not installed properly. The game can't find the file - probably because it's not there. If the logo is not where it should be, likely other files aren't.
You do have admin rights on the machine you've been installing it on?

This error is only coming this time I installed it.. I just started a quite new game and it does the same in other screens. You might be right about the installation. Never the less I did not get any messages about error under installation.. There were though a problem about it could not find a right file (CRC-error), but when I retried (retry button) it installed not saying that the file was missing again. I can try reinstalling for the third time, but I doubt it will fix the problem about crashing.. :/ Yea I run the installation with administration rights (vista) and is also logged in as administrator. |

How big is the .exe file for the PCMdaily.db?
It should be 452MB. Right click and choose properties to see how big it is.
With the errors you're getting, it looks as if everything is not being installed. The runtime error means the stage files are missing.
That's my guess as to where the problem is from what you've said so far.
(Course, it could be something as simple as remembering to select the .db in the options screen too.) |

You mean the exe file containing the db..?! If this is the case (452 MB (474.146.988 bytes)). I have reinstalled the game once again and will soon find out if it will help this time. It sounds very weired if the game all three times has not been installed right; but soon we will see if it helps this time. I have done anything to make permissions 100 administrator this time during installation.
And the db is set in the option screen. It's even set to default db. |

Out of curiosity, do you also get these crashes with the default DB? |

Hi again.. I have reinstalled it once again. This time from an iso-file of my disc to avoid potential read-errors. The iso was sucessfully created and it installed the program without any warnings or anything. Then I start it up to see if it has helped; but now I got these pink squares elsewhere as well.
I'm that frustrated right now that I'm close to use the dvd-rom as a discus out of my balcony and let it and pcm rest forever.
EDIT: CrueTrue it seems to work with the original database. At least so far. I have not played more than one race; but it didn't crash so far and all the menues seems to work without weired colors and the like. Maybe there is hope ahead as long as I use the original db. If this is the case and it stops crashing I will apoligize for my rude words about the game; it must have been the batabase which is corrupted even though i have downloaded it 3 times total. It's just frustrating not beeing able to play a game that I really want to. I hope deep inside this is the case so I can try playing it for real.. I'll update as soon I have played a little more..

After the installation of the PCM.daily DB, open up Program Files/Cyanide/PCM and find the folder called PCM.daily DB Backup. Inside it, there's a Local.cdb. Move it to My Documents/PCM and overwrite the existing file.
That should fix the pink icons thing (when using the PCM.daily DB, that is - make sure to start a new career after having moved the file).
About the graphics: The PCM.daily DB comes with a lot of extra equipment which takes up a lot of memory. PCM's memory management isn't the best, so even on high configurations, you may have to lower your graphic settings to avoid crashes during stages.
Some options are more 'effective' than others. E.g., disabling reflections in water and lowering the amount of spectators help a lot.

Thank you CrueTrue. I'll do that and see if this will stop the pink icons. I'll try it with the graphics as well, but not right now.. Now I'll play the game which I have been waiting for for so long on the original db.. |
