Peter Velits is the clear favourite to win the Slovakian championship while Rabon is, on paper, the strongest Czech. Will they be up to the odds?
Nobody attacked during the beginning of the race, there is a group in the front. Hruska, Simunek, Mares, Rabon and Machac are the Czechs and Martin Velits, Vysna and Slobodnik are the Slovakians.
Two minutes behind those 8 riders, there is a group with seven. Stybar heads it and Kovac, M. Hacecky, Jurco, P. Velits, Danacik, Kreuziger, Konig, Sosenka and Kozubek are right behind him.
Rabon, Mares and Hruska are the only ones who don't relay often, but the group continues to raise the gap. With 100km to go, it's 4 minutes.
Rabon gains a small gap in a hill. 63km to the end.
Peter Velits, Hacecky and Kreuziger leave their group sensing that this race is lost if they don't move. With 53km yet to run, Rabon is at 5 minutes and a half, after gaining quickly two minutes and a half to the group he belonged.
Velits and Kreuziger leave Hacecky behind in a desperate attempt to lower the gap.
Rabon has a lead of 4'45'' to the chasing group with only 20km to go.
Nobody can take the win and the Czech Championship, but for the Czechs in the chasing group, there is the second place to fight for and, for the Slovakians, there is a national championship to win. With 10km to go, this group has an advantage of 50 seconds to Kreuziger. Peter Velits is 30 seconds behind the B&O rider.
Rabon cheers! He is the new Czech champion and he put a brilliant performance today! He surely impressed some managers and he will be a target for the next season.
Simunek and Mares close the podium. Right behind them comes Martin Velits, the new Slovakian champion!
Martin Velits tries to repeat the sucess he had in the road race and he sets a reasonbale reference time.
Slobodnik was also good in the road race and he beats Martin Velits by 28 seconds. Two questions should be put: will he secure the Slovakian TT Championship and will he have a team for the next season?
Peter Velits comes and smashes the previous best time! He is the new Slovakian TT champion.
Sosenka is also looking for a contract. He loses 30 seconds to Velits but he is the best Czech rider so far.
Danacik does 27 seconds better than Sosenka.
But nobody does better than Kreuziger! He wins the race and he is the new Czech TT champion!
