2009 winner: Blaise Sonnery
It looks quite hard for Sonnery to defend the title won last year. This year’s route looks to suite better the puncheurs, with Pineau, Fedrigo, Coppel, Calzati and Chavanel being the main favorites
7 riders got away in what was going to be the main breakaway of the day: Mazet, Moncoutie, Berard, Sprick, Nazon, Vanderbiest and Poulhies. They built quite a big gap between them and the pack, their max advantage being 11 minutes
35 kilometers before the finish the attacks started in the pack. Fedrigo, Cherel, Coppel and Calzati proved to be the strongest and continued the race in four. But it was a little bit too late for them as the escapes were more than 8 minutes in front, which means that we are going to have a surprise winner today
With just 15 kilometers left from the race, Mazet attacked from the leading group and entered the last 10 kilometers of the race in a confident solo lead
Berard and Moncoutie also left the breakaway group, but they were more than 40 seconds behind Mazet at the 10 kilometers banner. 20 seconds behind them, Sprick was leading the other escapes
Even though he was the only one from the front groups that was riding by himself, Mazet increased a little bit his lead on the downhill, the chasers always being one corner behind him
Julien Mazet is the new French Champion! Berard and Moncoutie followed him on the podium, while behind the escapes, Coppel was the strongest from the favorites, finishing 8th

2009 winner: Pierre Rolland
Bonnet was one of the early starters and he came with quite a good time, after finishing the race in 1 hour 5 minutes and 34 seconds
The defending champion, Pierre Rolland, kept a chance to retain his title after taking the lead from Bonnet for less than a second
But his hopes ended when Coppel finished the race. The Wikipedia rider had an amazing time, being 2 minutes and 16 seconds faster than Bonnet and Rolland. Those two were his main rivals today and that means that he is the new French Champion!
On paper, Bouet was credited with a nice chance to get a podium place today, but he finished only 6th, Chavanel and Champion also being faster than him
