Welcome to what will become your source for all news pertaining to the Mercedes-Benz Pro Cycling. After the mass sponsor Exodus from the now former BMC PCT, Mercedes-Benz has stepped in to fill the void.
The kit to be worn by Mercedes-Benz riders was designed by master kit designer Will007.
As for the team's make-up many riders will stay, many will go. The team is not making any commitments at this point in time. We are prepared to say that the team will attempt to focus more in the coming season, though how is top secret, aka, I have no fucking idea. The team will remain American in it's registration.

Now several days into the transfer season, some contracts are begining to close. Ryan Eastman and Tyler Brandt have been loaned to the Pro Tour, where their development will progress faster with Wikipedia.
Also Mike Friedman and Sylvain Calzati have moved on from the team, both joining El Al-IDF.

Mercedes-Benz is excited to anounce the signing of two more riders to the team. Italian cycling star Filippo Pozzato hsa joined the team, with the highest wage in team history of 550,000 euros. His arrival will surely put Mercedes-Benz in with a shot at promotion, even if he insists on only a few race days a year.
Our next signing is Dutchman Jetse Bol, who is quite a talented young rider and will certainly flourish in our team environment.

Several more riders have signed on for the 2011 season.
Belgian Pieter Ghyllebert was without a ride for the coming year after Team Ultimate disbanded. He will be a valuable all rounder next year.
2 riders who aren't new faces, have also signed on. Scott Nydam will race at least one more year with the team. his future was uncertain after the renewal period, but he has decided to give it another go.
Will Frischkorn has returned to the team, after racing last season with Ernst&Young. The highlight of his history with the team was a stage win at the Tour de Langkawi in 2009.
Luis Pasamontes is a little known puncheur from Spain, but he will be a perfect domestique, and will have opprotunities of his own.

It is now time to begin presenting the roster of Mercedes-Benz Pro Cycling Team for the 2011 season. The team selected some very ambitious goals, and we think we have the necessary riders. In choosing team goals, Mercedes-Benz picked more puncheur orriented races, like Philly International, Tour of Turkey and Tour Med. To meet these goals, the team has increased it's strength in this punchy arena from past season.
Fillipo Pozzato is one of the best riders around for the hilly races. His ability to get over the hills and then pack a very strong sprint at the finish will be very valuable in the coming season. Plus he brings some Italian style to the squad.
Luis Pasamontes will attempt to step into the void left by the departing Sylvain Calzati. Luis will race primarily as a domestique for Wegmann and Pozzato. He may find some wiggle room though, having free reign whenever the two above riders are absent. He is a strong addition to the team. We wish we had more like him.
Pieter Ghyllebert should prove a usefull rider for our classics teams. He has a big engine to pull on the flats and should prove usefull in the hills.
While not origionally intending to build a team of sprinters, Mercedes-Benz did so anyways. We are pretty excited, both about the new additions and the old favorites.
The returning Juan Jose Haedo had a slightly disapointing season in 2010, after taking more victories than any other rider, period, in 2009. This Argentine fast-man will ride into the coming season as our second top tier sprinter. Now he has less pressure, and he should thrive in the environment that the team has created.
Our winningest rider from 2010 was Frenchman Benoit Sinner. While he will be racing as a leadout man for our lead sprinters in the coming season, he will likely get some chances of his own.
Sinner was a late addition to the team last year, and raced for minimum wage. This next rider brings with him a feeling of deja-vu. Let us hope that German sprinter Eric Baumann enjoys the same success as his French teammate.
One more signing is still pending, but let's assume the best occurs and add Venezuelan sensation Anthony Brea to the list. The ink is not dry on the contract yet, however Brea would be an excellent addition. This guy packs a sprint.
More is yet to come...

One rider who is expected to have a good season, although as a super domestiqe in more cases, is the blooming Taylor Tolleson. Taylor has developed into an excellent all rounder, with a particularly strong sprint.
Peter Stetina returns to lead the team into the mountains. With the shift towards hilly races, our stage racing department has suffered. Well, not really, the same guys are there, but no new additions have been made.
Thomas Peterson lacks that finishing quality that other stage racers have. However he makes up for it with consistency. Top 10s were the norm for him. Hopefully he can continue.
Bernardo Colex is our Mexican import. We are happy to have him on, as he has a solid ability to climb, and is the TT champ of his country.
Alex Howes is a strong climber, whose job will be to support team leaders when the going gets steep. Will Frischkorn is another strong rider who will race for team leaders. Scott Nydam is our oldest rider and has an illustrious past with the team. Ben Jacques-Maynes and Tom Zirbel are so close in ability: strong in TT's and on the hills. Steven Cozza is our resident badass and facial hair consultant. Cozza is one of the old timers, having been with the team since it's inception. Ethan Weiss is our youngest, and only still developing rider on the team. He can hold his own on the flats and will be invaluable.

Pipo Pozzato scored a win for Mercedes-Benz, bringing the team a successful season opener. Will Frischkorn proved his own worth as well, riding in the break, then holding on for 8th.

La Tropicale Amissa Bongo was a good race to us, as Haedo scored his first win of the season on stage two, raced impressively to keep himself in contention during the deciesive stage 3 and held on for 3rd overall by the end of Mercedes-Benz's stay Gabon.
After Pozzato's win in South Africa, plus the Bongonese success, Mercedes-Benz tops the continental leaderboards, at least for now. Several races are approaching, which MB will not be participating in.
Next up is I don't know, where MB will be lead by someone and supported by not sure who.
But seriously, Tour Med is up after a break, where Pasamontes will lead.

An Update from France
Ben Jacques-Maynes took second overall at the Tour of the Mediteranean while Zirbel finished 10th and Tolleson 12th. Pasamontes missed a split on stage 1. Lots of points scored, putting us solidly in the top 10 of the CT team standings.

Mercedes-Benz PCT has recently had some solid results. At the Giro del Capo, Peterson, Tolleson and Zirbel ended up 6th-8th on GC. Tolleson showed the talent we have known he has had, taking a stage win and the King of the Mountains Jersey. Towards the CT standings, Mercedes-Benz is adding a solid n
umber of points whilst waiting to team captain Pozzatto has yet to really start his season.
2 stages into the Tour de Langkawi Haedo took the leaders jersey and stage 1. Intermediate bonus time kept him in the jersey on stage 2. Stetina leads the GC hopes of our team.

Just a small update on our season's progress.
Langkawi:
Peter Stetina performed above and beyond what was expected of him at the Tour du Langkawi, taking 5th overall, 2nd in the Youth Classification. Haedo did not repeat his stage winning success, but placed consistently enough to move to 3rd overall in the points competition.
Corsica International:
A solid ride by Stetina on stage 1 put him in position to defend a top 10, ending 8th overall despite the TT. A solid race period was the result of Petersons riding, ending up 6th overall. Sinner scored a 2nd place finish on stage 2. Peterson and Zirbel went 3-4 in the TT. Peterson and Stetina were 2nd and 3rd on the Youth Classification, and Mercedes-Benz was 2nd on Team GC.
Profronde Van Drenthe:
Mercedes-Benz put in an underwhelming performance in this dutch race, with Pozzato and Pasamontes finishing 6th and 8th.
Giro Del Trentino:
Peterson was riding his usual steady and consistent self, until he faltered on the last stage, tumbling out of the top 10 finishing mid 20's.
World's View Challenge:
Pasamontes failed to leave South Africa with a result, and indeed Mercedes-Benz rode one of the most anonymous races in it's history here.
Presidential Tour of Turkey:
This race was our second goal of the season, with the aim of winning it. As with our first goal though, Tour Med, bad luck struck our team leader. Pozzato crashed on stage one conceding 4 minutes. As with Tour Med though, another took the team banner and ran with it. Tolleson continued his stunning tenure with the team, keeping himself in contention day in day out to finish 4th overall, and 3rd in the points rankings. Not one to give up easy Pozzato got that dirt off his shoulders, and won 3 consecutive stages, regaining much of his lost time, to end 13th overall, with the points jersey as an afterthought.

After the mixxed success of the Tour of Turkey Mercedes-Benz has suffered a series of disapointments. In Malaysia a crash in the final stage ruined Peter Stetina's GC run, though he did make off with the KoM jersey. In Frankfurt Pozzato ended 3rd in a sprint he should have won. Brea finished 16th in the Dutch Food Valley classic, capping an uninspired performance from Mercedes. When team captains failed though, Tolleson continued a streak of fine form, taking the first stage, and then the overall at the tour of Picardie. Business as usual resumed at the two American races targeted as team goals. In Canada, Peterson and Stetina scored top 10's, while success eluded the team in the UK.

Although the season is still in full swing, rumours have found their way into the press as to the future of the Mercedes-Benz PCT Program, mostly pertaining to a new co title sponsor and a new bicycle sponsor.
Mercedes-Benz Pro Cycling Team's manager had this to say: "You know what they say about rumours; they are usually true."
An industry insider remarked anonymously that "its more than just a bike sponsor, its a package deal." The same source mentioned something about Tupac's "California Love," though what that means is cryptic. "Its nothing new."

In 2012 several sponsors who have long been in the sport at an elite amateur level in the US will step up to the bigger leagues. California Giant Berry Farms, after a decade of sponsoring a very successful elite amateur team, are extending their marketing dollars to the international cycling team.
California based cycling industry superpower Specialized will also be contributing financially, and will equip the team.
Long time team sponsors Oakley, SRAM and Zipp will provide shades, components and wheels.

ANFreeman graciously consented to provide a kit for our team in the coming season. Obviously he did a fantastic job. Registration of the team will remain American, and with some talents returning to the team we will be looking to capitalise on this talent in the transfer season.
