The 2010 season has ended, so begins the off-season ahead of the 2011 season - and we will definately have spaces for new managers, who will most likely take on completely new continental teams, to build from scratch.
To join the game you need to be committed, willing to do the work required - both in the transfers, but also throughout the season, following your team through the season, commenting on race discussion threads,
Theres nothing I hate more than managers who join the game and quit soon after, so please do not apply if you lack the attention-span, or are not able to be a part of this game for long.
To apply, post here - and I would also like a few sentences on how you would intend to manage your team. This will help us to judge the best candidates when deciding who joins the game.
Thanks

I have only recently joined the community in comparison to other members (June), but since i've joined i have been facinated by the Man-Game. The more time i spent here, the more my interest grew (no idea if that's a word, to grow?). So it actually speaks for itself that i make a request to join the game.
So how would i manage my team?
Either way, if it's a new or existing team, i would manage it the best i can, follow the races (Actually hope to report some to), bassicly what all the other managers do. Most important for me is that i expierence it and have alot of fun it as it facinates me alot.
If i misinterpretted that question then this post fails <.<. In that case tell me so i can try over.

I would really lke to join but I would also like to know a little more on how it works. I will manage the best i can of course trying to send the right riders t othe right races to get good results. Any team will suite me. Hopefully i can be picked if my proposal is good enough. but again i would like to know a little more on what i would have to do if i was picked to manage a team

Well, I would like to apply for a team. I Know i'm not the most participative user here but when I enter something I don't leave at the end of the first half.
I heard about Daily's Man Game from untal ( Cute guy ) and I'm also in Daily's Track League. I can also help with reports if you want.
I'm joining this because this idea is fantastic and it is really well made and working really smoothly
A simple request because you all know that what i want is a Team !
Even if I don't get it, well, i'll be frustated of course |

I would also really like to join I have really taken interest into the man-game.
I also need to know how it works in detail and what I have to do, but I definitely have enough time to follow it fully and comment on all races.

sorry, didn't read the full question.
I have an idea of the kind of team I would like to build and use the money as best I can, I will try and send the correct riders to the right races to get the best results that I can possibly get, if I get picked I would hope to do well, but I would also like to have fun.

That sort of thing goes without saying. Im more interested in what sort of tactics you would employ. i.e. go for a big name rider at all costs, just bidding on riders other people go for, focusing on a certain geographic area to base the team around etc etc That sort of thing.
In terms of what new managers do.
The first thing is to pick the team goals, which determines the budget you have available. You then head into the transfer season, having received the latest database - in Excel form - and with your budget and a salary cap, build a team of 20-30 riders. This will likely be by buying free agents, or buying riders from existing teams - theres also swapping one rider for another, which is less relevant when starting from scratch, and also the ability to loan in or out a rider. This transfer period will be a busy period of 2 weeks, and youll be expected to keep control of your bidding using a Transfers excel sheet, making sure you buy enough riders, within budget.
For continental teams, you also get to decide your race calendar. Theres 20 HC races, you rank them in order of which you want to go to, and ultimately ride in 12. Then theres ~60 C1 races, and you pick the ones you want to ride, within a team allocation of 150 race days.
When you have your riders and calendar, you then decide who will race where. Then when every team has submitted their race planners, the season commences. (All aspects will be explained in more detail when they arise)

I would like to build a team of mainly Dutch riders with a few South Africans (if possible) I think i will go for a few good riders, but not spend a whole lot of money on one rider.

Hmm, i misunderstood the question about the team abit.
To go more in depth.
I would build a team based on Italian-American riders, with some other nationalities. I actually want to build a good team that can find his way around in the game. I might take one big rider, or i take a few riders who will do good in general. That would obviously depends on the races/goals i pick/get. Tbh it's hard to say something specific at this time as you head into the transfer season after you choose your races. So everything depends on that. I do think that my races will be mostly in Europe and America, and probably not alot in Azia-Africa. |

Oh, i completely forgot to post my team orientation.
My team plans would be one day races, with a wide variety of nationalities and young riders. I prefer to have a good rider, a leader who is more experencied and capable of nailing good performances and many young boys who can progress well and get good results in the future. |

To add to my other post I would try for some very good North American Riders and defianatly g ofor Hesjedal and maybe one big name like Wiggins. But if there are great riders available for a good price (pretty much a must-buy i would get them) I just hope that i get the job.

I would be relly happy if i get a team in the game.
im not the most participative user but, i read every report from the Man-Game and is very interesed in it.
If i got in i would never quit beacuse i know you are a bastard if you get a place and donĀ“t use it.
I would mainly try to get north Europe riders, mostly from Scandinavium.
My race calender shuld mainly be in Europe.
When i go for a riders i would try to get a even team.

I would love to become part of the Management game.
My intention would be to build a team around attacking riders of any nationality. I would probably avoid signing one big name, preferring instead to appeal to semi final type riders.
Perhaps riders who have served other riders for some time and are keen to take the lead in a few races, or some ambitious youngsters who are impatient for the oppurtunity.
The team would perhaps be more suited to one day races, but may have an chance of taking small stage races by using opputunist breakaways.
Finally this team will be looking for riders from less well known cycling nations to widen its appeal. |

First of all, thank you for this opportunity for letting new managers join.
If i would get a team, my roster will be full of young belgium man trying to breakthrough to higher levels, a bit like Topsport Vlaanderen. And actually that's my purpose i don't want all those big names, but just belgian youngsters who want a chance in cycling on top level. Maybe some other youngsters from other countries will join the team. But my roster will be still full of belgiums ?
How would i manage my team?
We will fight very hard for every wildcard we can get. So my team can show themself in a good way or sometimes in a bad way. My plan is to let everyone ride as much as possible in their speciality. I don't care if we win nothing but if i see that my team did their best, i will be a very happy man on the end of the season. |

I would like to make a team mainly for the stage races, but mainly consisting out of young riders.
The team should consist mainly out of timetrialist, which also can climb well.
The team will be mainly American and east European riders, maybe some Africans. Most of them will be young stage racers.
I will try to get the best results as possible and hope that the team gets a wildcard for Paris-Nice and other smaller Pro-Tour races.
Our main goals will be American and East-European races and maybe Africa of some riders from there are in the team.
I would be very happy if we could end in the top 10 at some bigger races, or even join in one of the three big stage races.
The team shall mainly be a stage team and will concentrate on those races, riding with young stage cyclist.

There isnt a specific deadline. I guess the Transfer Period is the ultimate deadline, and it all depends on how fast the early part of the offseason goes

I think that fanatsy teams is good, because I am a little bored of the real teams.(Not that I don't like some of them) It looks exiting with bringing back riders like Kessler, Pollack, etc.... I think I can report some small races, maybe some races like: Tour De San Luis, GP Meditaren etc....
And I also have a question, if there are some of the Protour teams that are withdrawing, are there goin to be the highest ranked team in the Cont, or is it random drawing or something like that? |
