Individual Rankings

For the first 8 races of the season Florentino Marquez led these standings, before Sam Bewley took over for the next 17. Francesco Ginanni and Rein Taaramae then took it over. Ginanni from race 26 to 33 and 41 to 51, while the Estonian led from 24 to 40 and 50 to 63. Taaramae kept close still as Valverde then took the lead until Race 71. Cornu then took the lead before Valverde reclaimed it at race 76 of this 79 race season.

And at the end of it all? 19 points separates the Top 3, but the title is Valverde's, having won Vuelta a Burgos and 4 classics. 2nd for the Belgian Cornu, winner of Missouri, Danmark Rundt, Isle of Man TT and Duo Normand - aswell as a record 7 stages, while Taaramae is 3rd, The Estonian only won the Tour de San Luis overall, but had many other consistent performances.

2 stage races and 1 classic put Ginanni 4th, while the same amount of overall victories has Ignatiev 5th. 1 Classic win for the top ranked sprinter Juan van Heerden, but he also had 6 stage wins. 1 stage race and 2 classics for Trofimov in 7th, while Tom Danielson takes 8th after 3 stage race victories. in 9th, Henao Montoya is the only rider in the Top 20 to have failed to take an overall victory in a stage race or classic, while Ben Swift is 10th with 1 stage race victory and, like van Heerden, 6 stages.

Team Standings

For the first 30 races, the lead in the team standings changed regularlly. SL Benfica, Olympus AirAsia, Starbucks, Sony Ericsson and Jack Wolfskin all taking turns. But after race 30, apart from Jack Wolfskin briefly leading into race 39, it has been all Sony Ericsson. Their lead may have varied, going up and down, but they have consistenly been the number 1 team, and that is where they end the season. Overall, they won 3 stage races and 3 classics.

Jack Wolfskin end just over 100 points behind, although they did win 4 stages races and 5 classics, and can boast the 2 highest scores from a single race - 546 from Missouri, and 485 from Danmark Runt. This therefore suggests that Sony Ericsson had more strength in depth, a crucial factor in the continental division.

100% Me are ineligible to promote, but took a surprising (or at least, it surprised me) 3rd place. 4 stage races and 1 classic, but a lot of consistent scoring from their main riders.

Claiming the final 2 automatic promotion spots are Nespresso-Sportzone and Team Energie-Diesel, fighting off the challenge from Vespa-Caffreys, Starbucks and Wiggle.

IKEA Bianchi and Olympus AirAsia complete the Top 10, with BMC, Santander, NOS and AON Global not that far behind, while Kenda take a strong 15th, despite not having been part of the transfers, maxing some of the remnants of the former team Champion, with remaining free agents.

oh well, 12th overall, however it's looking good for next year, with my team getting much, much stronger bar the loss of Valverde.

Also well done SN on another very successful season

Congratulations SN you've done it again, this has been a hell of a season, with lots of ups and downs and a fight for the promotion spots till the last races (thank god Mercado didn't abandon in the Sun Tour).

Overall it was a pretty surprising year for me getting the last of the promoting spots (seriously my best rider was 30th in the individual rankings).

btw are you going to post the Continental rankings (African, European, American...)?

Great year for the Conti-Man-Game (horrible one for EY though). The much larger division in teams and races worked well, and hopefully next year will be great, for not only the CMG, but also for El - Al.

Being part of the reporters of the Man-Game made me realize the tremendous amount of work you have, SN. Adding to that, the quality of this is insane, from an large DB in excel form with colours and all that, to constant updates of the classifications. Bravo to you! Rjc, as far as I know, you also help in the DB making, which seems to be a workful process, so you also have my respect. Same thing for the reporters. And every single manager also deserves a word, because without you, this would not be possible aswell.

This was an exciting season. Halfway to the end, it was clear to see that two teams would surely promote, but with the announcent that 4 would promote, things became even more exciting. Congratulations to the top 3 teams for that impressive amount of points, more than a 1000 points lead to the fourth is way too much.

I do literally nothing (in comparison). I do a few new riders here and there. Stats, updates, and overlooking stuff, as well as having a hand in a few rule updates for the coming season, but SN is the mastermind behind the entire game. Without him, we'd be stuffed.

I'm just happy I can help out a bit, even if all that involves is bugging SN with constant requests to update riders I want to sign for name-sake Pfft

I'm happy to have risen to 8th from last season, and I hope I can rise to the top 4 next year so I can get promotion. Until that happens though, here's looking forward to a successful transfer period... or so I hope!

Disappointed to miss out on promotion. Few key crashes cost Vespa dear.

And yes, there's a huge amount of work that goes into this from SN. Just like to say thanks for it all. Grin

A huge thanks for SN. It truly is an immense job he does for our benefit.

As for BMC: Meh. Not quite what I was hoping for but looking at the quality of teams I was up against I will have to be pleased.

but seen as eurosport are staying up, in this eventuality, which team would be disbanded? or would vespas not be promoted?
