Hey, haven´t got around to installing the pcmdaily2010db yet, but was glad to read about the new time gap system..... could anyone explain to me a little more specific about this new system?
We are a group af "cyclists" from denmark, we are growing pretty tired of the time gaps, mostly the mountain stages where we sometime have a 30 second loss eventhough the bike was just one ince behind the winning rider, and sometimes we get same time eventhough the winner had clearly 10 or 20 meters gap down to nr.2
Does the new gap system do anything about this?
Thanks alot in advance |

Well, good news and bad news.
It's all about the scale which is 1:10 in PCM. We can't change this, and it's due to the scale that even small gaps are being recognized as 30 sec gaps.
There's one setting in the DB, though. It's the gap column in STA_stage where one can change when a gap should be 'recognized'. In time trials, this is set to 0, because you want the precise time. Let's say that you set this to 20 in a time trial - that'd mean that, even if a rider was 20 secs behind, he'd get the same time as the rider who's passing the line 20 secs in front of him.
Anyway - what we have done is that we've generally lowered the time gaps to make the game more realistic - however, this does also mean that it takes even less to create a time gap. If you lose a few meters on your opponent on a mountain stage, you can and will lose some seconds (4-30).
So, on one hand, it doesn't fix the 1st problem that you mention - on the other hand, it does actually fix the 2nd one. A gap is recognized more easily now.
Ultimately, it's up to Cyanide to come up with a good fix for it, though |

I've mentioned this before, and I think that it should be implemented by Cyanide, make the last km of a mountain or hill stage and the last 3 km of a flat stage at a 1:1 ratio. You get rid of that issue, and it doesn't task the computer as much as an overall 1:1 scale. |

to Deadpool : Amen to that, making an option of an 1:1 ratio at the end of a stage is also my idea of a solution .....are you listening Cyanide?
to cruetrue : Thanks for letting me in on what you´ve done about the timegaps, guess i´ll have to wait until pcm2010 makes the stores (hopefully)
I´ve now downloaded your DB, good work :-) |

Another question about the time gaps.... guess this is a question for CrueTrue then :-)
Has the changes in timegaps been implemented on all races, or only in some?
If only some, could you tell me what races?
Thanks a lot

It's not for all races.
If you look in STA_stage, it's all the races starting with daily_ (as the xml file name) + the 2010 races. |

STA_stage
gene_f_time_gaps for the time gaps.
gene_sz_stage_xml for the file names. |

sorry, still confused about where I find it, is it in a folder where I have installed the game or do I open an editor or? I feel I´ve searched everywhere
please guide me further, and could you tell me if the Giro D´Italia and Paris-Nice and Dauphine Libere are amongst the races that have been altered concerning the timegaps? |

You have to open the DB with an editor such as Full Editor V4 (aka Advanced Editor) or Hannes Converter.
The races you mentioned have been altered, yes. |
