From the World Championships in South America, it is time for the Man Game to return to Europe. Damiano Cunego is on home soil and will look to make up for the disappointment of losing to Valverde by taking victory here. However, there's a strong line up of riders well capable of taking the win though - and riders like Schleck and Sanchez Gonzalez will look to make sure Cunego ends off the top step of the podium again.

Schleck being lazy as hell, but great to see Pellizotti step up and take that podium
But seriously Schleck. Best hilly rider in the game - but thats 2 races in a row he has done nothing (Badaling and this)

Wiggle not being afraid to get stuck in! 11th by Bertagnolli is a bit of a surprise, Nocentini sure, but Leonardo pulled it out the bad.
Ok result for Virgin too, good old Joaquin!

Phew!
Was scared there for a second that Domina would actually take points on me, but in the end Nibali got caught and Samuel Sanchez sprinted for 2nd place. I believe that gave me the final edge to outperform Domina Vacanze. 3 races left, Domina not riding 1 of them, gives me 15 extra points for finishing the TT race I guess :-)
Meaning a final advantage of somewhat 140pts on Domina. They will have to gain podium ATLEAST on one of the final 2 hilly stages.
Also the fact that I managed to keep a good distance to Accumalux secures me from them getting up in my arse.
3rd seems very likely! :-D

Way to go Damiano!
PT victory should be safe now, andI am probably in the lead of the PT individual rankings now as well, with a very good shot of winning it
Perfect!
Edit; I just noticed this completed my 3rd season goal, and with the team rankings rather safe too, I now 'only' have to win Lombardia to complete all five
1. Win Giro di Lombardia
2. Top 3 Giro d'Italia
3. Top 5 Tirreno-Adriatico
4. Top 5 Team Rankings
5. Top 5 Giro della Emillia

Impressive! I have 3 now that I'm sure to get top 10 of the Pro Tour overall. I missed the following:
Win Amstel Gold Race (Huh? Why would that ever be my main goal? Hmm...)
Stagewin in Paris-Nice (Got a 2nd place the last stage with Ardila :-/ )

So am I... Next season with both Samuel Sánchez and Diego Ulissi I'm hoping to improve my hilly season, eventhough this season has been quite good.

BTW:
When looking at next years budget do you look purely on the season goals, or also on the other achievements?
Because I have missed 2 season goals, but you might say I have gotten quite some other big results, including moving up 7 spots on my season goal towards finishing top 10 in the overall Team rankings.

A mixture of goals achieved, money remaining from last year, and finishing position, affect your budget options

Alright, so I guess my budget won't be horrible, although I didn't reach all my goals :-)

3 Goals is a good amount of goals to get, as a minimum - the teams who shouldnt be looking forward are those who went for the harder goals last year, but have done badly on their goals

Why would that be? Punishing people for saving up money? |

Well, jet me ask it differently then.
How is your money remaining from last year going to affect your budget? |

The money carries over - not necesarilly all of it, but a proportion of it at least

My guess is that if you have lots of money left over from this season, they will be transferred to the next season. So you're not punished from saving up...
Edit: See above

I don't remember which goals I chose. I suppose I took medium?
3/5 and quite a lot better in the Overall Rankings than first assumed will give approx the same as this season?

Ooooh, ok. I thought your remaining money would affect the new budget you where getting on top of what you already had. My bad. |
