Time for a mountain stage - and the first summit finish
No break could get away before the top of the first climb, so Hacecky takes the points, ahead of Henao Montoya
A break of 13 went away after that
Meyer, Bonser, Allain, Lay, Nino, Stenersen, Reza, Passalacqua, Van den Eynde, Khalilikhosroshani, Barclay, Sibillia and Burke - curiously, that means both of Henao Montoya's teammates decided to go in the break, rather than protect their team leader.
Theyre still just ahead with 17km to go as the attacks start on the flat before the summit climb. Eastman, Van Garderen, Alarcon and Gallopin go first
Alarcon is obviously strongest as we start the climb, and he closes down the break
Alarcon moves into the lead
Some new attacks from the peloton: Ratiy, Hacecky, Phinney and Madrazo
But Alarcon still holds a good lead
Phinney takes himself and Madrazo a little bit away from Hacecky and Ratiy
Late as ever in this race, Henao Montoya finally attacks with 4.5km to go
Sensing him coming, Phinney puts in an attack to stay ahead
Henao Montoya links up with Hacecky with 3km to go
It takes him a further 1.5km to ride up to Phinney and Madrazo
And he immediately goes ahead of them
Alarcon is into the final kilometre with a 45 second lead
Jose Alarcon takes the stage!
2nd for Henao Montoya, but he only gains 14 seconds + time bonuses on Phinney. He needed to take time and be aggressive, yet he attacked late once again, and he still has a lot of work to do to even take 2nd overall
20 seconds after Phinney, 1'07 behind Alarcon, Madrazo finishes - having faded in the last km, the Spaniard was caught by Hacecky
Ratiy finishes at 1'42, with Rojas Villegas at 1'53
Kunshin, Mai, Vitoria, and Keizer are 2'19 after Alarcon, with Van Garderen a further 30 seconds behind
