Aussie Time Trial Championships
I simulated this, Cadel was our only rider, and he came in 7th. Ben Day won impressively.

Australian Championships
Cadel in the pack with no teammates, at the start tof the Aussie Champs.
There goes the opening break. It's O’Neill (Bahati Foundation), Hayman (Sky), Stevenson (Adageo Energy)
Fly V Australia leading the pack.
5 new riders attack and are chasing the front three. E2 is Howard (Columbia).
E3 is Scott Davis (Astana), Cooke (Saxo Bank), Clarke (UnitedHealthcare), King (Trek – Livestrong).
The groups merge into a group of 8.
Behind there is another attack. This time it's Lowe (Garmin), Menzies (UnitedHealthcare)
But Lowe crashes!
He is caught and passed by the pack and will never quite catch up, and will finish last.
Menzies is caught, probably quite unlucky that his break-mate crashed.
Day (FlyV) goes on the offensive.
He catches group one, making it 9 riders.
Cadel realises the break could very likely make it, and attacks.
20K to go and the situation looks like this.
E1 – Davis, O’Neill, Hayman, Howard, Cooke.
E2 – O’Grady, Clarke, Day, King, Stevenson
E3 – Rice (Bahati), Evans
(Rice attacked just behind Evans)
Just before 5 k to go now, and a large E2 chases O'Neill who probably didn't mean to gap the rest of the group. Anyhow, it's ultimately doomed.
Over the top and now look, Gerrans, Rogers, Evans and O'Grady make up E1. Arguably the four biggest riders here will ride to try to become Aussie Champion.
(Sorry about lack of sprint pics, the one I took went wrong)
Cadel wins it! O’Grady 2nd, Gerrans 3rd, Rogers 4th, Sutherland 5th.
A fantastic result for Cadel, even if he won't ride in White and green this season.
I won't post over the next week, because I'll be in Austria skiing. Please don't think it's dead. |
