Are time gaps likely at the end of this stage? It's a mystery but Cornu surely fears better hilly riders.
The first sprint is placed right after the start and after a descent. With this, many sprinters could take points but nobody could beat Mohs. Markov and Peeters also score points.
Bole wins the second sprint over a very big group which is being chased by the peloton.
Eventually a group of 13 gets away: Usov, Roulston, Docker, Eastmen, zaugg, Jamieson, Bole, Urtasun, Kannemeyer, Gomis Lopez, Rutkiewicz, Belda and Pomer. Eeckout is in no man's land.
Urtasun wins the third sprint over Roulston and Docker.
Bole attacks in the first rated climb to extend his lead on the mountains classification.
He does the same in the next climb.
Jack Wolfskin, Wal-Mart and Wii Racing chase the breakaway. With 79km to go, the gap is around 6 minutes and a half.
Surprise, surprise! Reus is relaying in the peloton. The gap keeps shortening, with 57km to go, it's around 4 and a half minutes.
With 44km to go, Donald, Valjavec and Rabon attack! Hoste and Lasri would counter.
Valjavec was caught but Donald, Rabon, Hoste and Lasri form a group.
Raisin comes from behind to catch them.
Cornu attacks! Along with Aramendia and van Zeedbeek, with 30km to go!
Van Stayen and Lowik join a group with Hoste, Donald and Aramendia while Cornu is ahead in the road and even ahead is the early breakaway. Every other rider was caught by the peloton.
Danielson is also off! He would be countered by Van Garderen and by more riders.
A group is formed in front of the peloton: Clement, Van Garderen, van Stayen, Cornu, Danielson, Donald, Kiryenka and Hoste. Only 10km to go.
Schumacher escapes from the peloton.
While Kannemeyer wins the last sprint and Rutkiewicz is right behind him. This could be a winning move as Cornu's group is one minute behind with 9km to go.
Talking about Cornu's group, Schumacher has entered in it while Hoste, Clement and van Stayen are trying to attack it with no sucess.
Cornu's group caught the breakaway group (bar Kannemeyer and Rutkiewicz) and soon Clement and Eastmen get a gap on it. 4 km to go and Marquez, Kiserlovski and Frisckhorn came from behind to enter in the group.
Kannemeyer enters in the final two kilometers with a 20 second gap on Rutkiewicz.
Kannemeyer holds his lead until the line, victory for him!
Rutkiewicz is second just in front of Clement.
Kiryenka is fourth and after him comes the peloton. So, no big GC changes, unless Clement is awarded with a gap over the peloton.
