Tour of Britain - Stage 2
SportingNonsense
Moving away from London, away from the rain and out into Stage 2 - but one thing that reamains is the huge amount of attacks. But come the first intermediate sprint, there was a group of 3 just ahead of another 11 - and its Ponzi who takes the sprint, ahead of Day and Longo Borghini
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain12.jpg

The 11 behind have been caught by the first KoM not long after, which Longo Borghini takes
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain13.jpg

Ponzi is surprisingly beaten at the 2nd sprint by Day, and soon after they are joined by 12 new attackers: Joachim, Sutherland, Butterfield, Walsleben, Fleeman, Norris, Ulanowski, Kavsek, Passalacqua, Klimiankov, Remme and Connolly
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain14.jpg

Ponzi takes his revenge and the final intermediate sprint, coming from behind to beat Day into 2nd
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain15.jpg

It seems that although 12 have joined the original 3, its those 3 who are being most active. Longo Borghini takes the 2nd KoM, with Ponzi 2nd - but Longo Borghini wants to make it a 1 man show though and continues on after his attack on the climb
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain16.jpg

There is a final KoM with 16km to go - but the break has all been caught by then. Ospina of Starbucks attacks for the points, ahead of Hermans and that man again, Longo Borghini - who will take the first KoM jersey of the race
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain17.jpg

The interesting part of this climb happened after the points line though - Grabovski launches an attack, and Ginanni is amongst those countering!
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain18.jpg

Its a dangerous late move, but the 2 to come best out of it are Pfannburger and Sabido
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain19.jpg

This is unwanted extra work for the sprinters and their teams. It takes til 3km to go to catch Ginanni, with the other 2 just in front
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain20.jpg

Sabido does have a useful sprint, he makes his move now and will hope he has what it takes to hold off the charge
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain21.jpg

Trsuov makes his move early but soon alongside him is Ciolek
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain22.jpg

Ciolek powers along near the barrier and catches Sabido
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain23.jpg

And Gerald Ciolek wins the stage! Petacchi can celebrate in the background, while Westling takes 2nd and Sabido holds on for 3rd
