The race opens with a criterium around the capital, London. And laying down a benchmark for what should be an exciting race, there are attacks aplenty from the start - but they all struggle to break the stranglehold of the peloton
We're in Britain, its raining. So there are inevitably crashes - and disastrously for the British 100% Me team, one of them involves Chris Froome. Froome went down with Perry of Ernst & Young, and other Cleaver was sent back to help Froome, and intitially got the gap down from 2 minute to 1, the pace of the pack was simply too frantic. Other riders to crash later in the stage include Proni and Franzoi
While Froome went off the back, 7 riders went off the front: Kvist, Klimiankov, Butterfield, Ponzi, Remme, Sutherland and Fleeman
But they are surpassed by Rojas Gil, who had made a new attack with IrnBru's Lewis
Rojas keeps his solo advantage, but with 30km still to go it is only him remaining
He is soon caught, so we head towards a sprint finish. There are a lot of trains building, and sprinters need to be aware - it will be all too easy to be out of the battle, too far back, before it has even began
Here we go then, Luke Rowe is leading, Trusov behind him - but Lego, Starbucks, Kenda and Sony Ericsson also swamp the road
Renshaw powers into the front - proving to be the best lead out man - with Minard in tow - in Ireland we saw Minard lead out Renshaw, but the reason for the change is that despite being the lead out man, it was Minard who won the final stage there
Minard makes his move, and he has Gaywood on his wheel
But now comes Casper on a charge
He is unstoppable, Jimmy Casper wins the opening London stage! Forster takes 2nd, with Ciolek 3rd
