A flat stage to start, then right into the mountains. Stage 3 is the queen stage, multiple climbs before the big one - the Angliru. On overnight stay on top of the Angliru in an especially built Hotel follows - because Stage 4 is a time trial back down the mountain. We then end on stage 5, with a so-called 'flat' finale.
Its the last chance for ProTour riders to influence World Championship rider quotas for nations - the likes of Moldova, Estona, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal, Cuba and Austria are battling for the final few spaces in the Road Race.
But of course there is the ongoing battles across the board in both the Indiviual and Team ProTour standings.
Who to look out for? Alejandro Valverde - with 2 HC classics, 1 C1 classic and 1 HC Stage Race won earlier in this month - he is in top form. But theres also the likes of Fothen, Pozzovivvo, Uran, Intxausti, Arroyo, F Schleck, Gesink and Sella.

Uran will have to pull something special off here if I am to have a shot at chasing down Gazzeta. Especially with this field, I dont see it happening.

Valverde failed in our other PT appearance. hopefully he can pull off at least a podium here. Although, if not then maybe I can convince Stemple to let me keep him, hence I am not really sure what the best result is.

It would help your cause if you tried to persaude Stemple rather than Setzel

Sponsors demand I win this one... Yeah, I'm not seeing it...
Especially with the likes of Valverde, Pozzovivo or Sella here...

Happy to see a strong field here, not having Cunego or di Luca lined up.
At least Rogers might win the TT |

Now if doping was allowed, Paco Mancebo would be the winner here. |

Well done by Pozzovivo. Good effort to stay ahead of the large group of favourites. A shame, though, that Arroyo and co managed to get away early. |

Not the best result for Pozzovivo. On the other hand, the competition is very, very strong, so this is pretty much what one could expect. |
