We have a 2 man breakaway, Bonser and Van Ooijen

There lead is around 3 minutes at 60km to go, when Van Heerden, Serrano and Tankink make a brief attack of the peloton which does not last long.

Proni and Dan Martin do make an impact in attacking with 32km to go, they cross the remaining 1 minute gap to the break

The gap is holding at 1 minute with 20km to go as Wegmann leads a new wave of attacks

He makes the front group, along with Nocentini, Hermans, Bosisio and Roche

Van Ooijen is dropped, while Bertagnolli and Bettini bridge across, making a 10 man lead group with 3 Vespa, 3 Wiggle, 3 100% Me and 1 BMC rider.

Wegmann, Martin, Proni and Roche follow immediately, while Bettini and Nocentini wait a little before reacting

That wait could have cost them though, as Wegmann is pushing hard at the front

He is edging out a gap on the rest - Proni initially let the gap go, but Hermans was also unable to close it
