Another flat stage, perfect for sprinters and breakaways.

Sijmens, Bono, Coppel, Santambrogio, Brandt, Ladagnous, Aulas and Sokolov all were a part of today's tv-break. Kovalev was also a part of it, but was somehow dropped along the way.

Unlike the previous stages, the sprinter teams seemed tired on this one, and it quickly became clear that it'd be a very close race. And as the E1 sensed that they'd be fighting for the win, the attacks happened one after one. In the end, Santambrogio, Ladagnous, Aulas and a struggling Sijmens got away. The rest were dropped and caught by the peloton. With 5 km to go, the four in front had a small gap of 30 seconds to the peloton.

With 2.3 km to go, the sprint is on, but the breakaway has almost been caught after a fantastic lead by Cancellara. He has Cooke, Boonen, Davis, Loddo and more on his wheel.

Along the way, Wielinga forces a crash in the peloton which also takes down the 20th placed Igor Anton and Guillen. They never made it back to the P.

And with 1 km to go, the break has to give up. Boonen has caught them. Davis is struggling to hold his wheel.

It's a very, very clear win for Boonen! The Australian duo of Davis and Cooke takes 2-3.
