The fifth stage of this Tour de France is another one for the sprinters. Will Hushovd be able to take the last step? With no mountain points (that's how flat this stage is...) available, Brutt's safe for one more stage.

At first, a group of 14 got away, but Eurosport didn't seem to like this and reeled them in. Instead, the following grouped up: Ongarato, Talabardon, Kip, Santambrogio, Champion, Ford, Kovalev, Wyss and Mollema. Behind them, Fiedler, Donald and Khatuntsev were looking to bridge the gap.

Eventually, the three riders did manage to join the others.

And the stage turned out as expected. Breakaway got a lead of c. 8 minutes, teams began chasing, and with 23 km to go, it was over for all of them.

Instead, it was time for the sprint - and Warners Brothers can be satisfied with the fact that Boonen's back. And from what I could see, none of the GT contenders were dropped either.
Train 1 (far right): Coyot, Loddo, Marinangeli and Caethoven.
Train 2: Dumoulin and Pozzato.
Train 3: Ten Dam, Coenen, Wegmann, Geslin, Moinard and Gautier.
Train 4 (far left): Moletta, Davis, Haedo, Cavendish, Steegmans, Hushovd.

Davis' in front, and he has two BMC-competitors in Wegmann and Haedo. Cavendish, Cancellara and Steegmans are up there too.

Davis is unbeatable, though. This is his 2nd stage win!
