The CT division heads into Portugal to a race which will be the first of the season for this South-European country. Hills, hills and a few sprints is what we can expect here.
That's right, hills! And two flat stages, for those who want to perform in the flat. The middle stage seems to be hardest, as the finish is in Montejunto, a hill with the looks of a mountain.

The three portuguese teams in CT will try to perform in their soil. Nespresso seems to be the one with better chances, as their leader, Kessler, is rated as the number 1 favourite. This means little, though, as a cycling race is always unpredictable. Energie-Diesel has Vicioso as their leader. Vicioso is an all-around rider and his sprint power may be useful. He's sided by excellent climbers which may be a plus for his chances. Talking about climbers, Benfica brings an army of them. Moreno seems to be the leader, but his reasonable hilly abilities may not be enough for a podium place. He will have the help of Marquez (winner of the opening race of the season), Nazaret, Ribeiro, VÃtor, Benitez and Costa (the best hilly rider of the squad). These teams will have to prove their value in Portugal, but they aren't the only here.
The strongest oppenents of Kessler and Vicioso may be Anza and Bertagnolli. The first has a strong team behind him, but they also want to perform in the sprints, which may hurt Anza's chances. The latter has the team focused for him and the Stage 3 may be the one which favours him the most. Rabon, Proni, Bru Pascal and Vorganov are also worth mentioning, as they are very capable in hills.
In the sprint section, big names are here. Bazajev, D'Amore and Grillo are from the same team and these three guys are very capable. Gatto and Gavazzi are, as well, teammates and Bongiorno is the only of the big sprint guns that can claim the team leadership in this section.
So, in theory, this may be an excellent race. Stay tune! |

I hope Anza can ride well with the help of Mori. Will be interesting to see if having three good sprinters turn out good or very very bad.

I think I'm going for the same here too. Having my 3rd team leader here pretty much sums it up.

It doesn't matter how much of a leader Bertagnolli is in your team, but the quality of him compared to the one of the other riders in here. And damn, I would ask for something more than a top 10. |

It's a Portuguese race. The sponsors care little for results here. The riders are just topping up the tan

Didn't bring any sprinter to give more spots to puncheurs/climbers in the squad. That 3rd stage has got to give me something
btw nice to see some fierce lusitanian rivalry

I don't consider a bad manager like you a rival.

Since Energie are currently ahead of Nespresso, does that mean youve given up on beating him?

That may be the first time in 3 seasons that Soler has ever achieved anything in the management game!

A little better by Anza this time. Now I put all my hopes to an attacking frenzy in the last stage.

Excellent result there from Gatto.
Now I just need Bosisio to somehow slip away in the final hilly stage. |
