Second stage of the Italian race and with 2 hills in the last half, perfect for puncheurs, the Wiggle duo, Nocentini & Bertagnolli, is rated as main favorite
Rooijakkers won the first KoM points of the day, followed by Dall'Antonio and Vital.
Some of the main escapes were in the leading at that point, but some joined it later, so here are the riders that were in the breakaway of the day: Danacik, Stoltz, Boucher, Rooijakkers, Galpasoro, Sutherland, Vital, Ponzi, Rovny, Vanthourenhout, Quinziato and Dall'Antonia
The first and the only intermediate sprint of the day was clearly won by the best sprinter in the group, Dall'Antonia
Even though they have 2 riders in the breakaway Wiggle seem to be the most intersted team in chasing the escapes, along with Ikea, Sony Ericsson and Air Asia
With 50 kilometers Stubbe, Leukemans and Veloso attacked from the pack but it didn't last for too long and only a few minutes after they were brough back in the pack
Rooijakkers also won the second climb of the day and this should secure him the KoM jersey for tomorrow. This time he was followed by Dall'Antonia and Dancik
The pack, lead now maily by Ikea, is more than 4 minutes behind the escapes and that could be a problem as there are less than 40 km until the finish
That climb made the first victim of the day as Stoltz lost the contact with the other escapes and he will be probably be caught by the pack soon
The escapes started the last climb of the day with 3 minutes advantage over the pack. With a bit of luck this could be their day
Halfway to the top we had a new victim in the leading group. This time it was Vanthourenhout who lost the contact with the others
Once more Rooijakkers attacked for the KoM points. This time he even made a gap
The chasing group, lead by Boucher and the 2 Wiggle guys from the breakaway, was 20 seconds behind him at the summit
In the third position there we had Nocentini who attacked from the pack and caught Vanthourenhout
Bertagnolli also attacked but it seems that he can't join his team - mate
And on the downhill he was brought back in the pack, together with Vanthourenhout
With 10 km before the finish Rooijakkers still hangs on that advantage of 20 seconds over the chasing group
Behind them, Nocentini has pretty much the same advantage over the pack, maybe a little bit bigger
Not very good news for Rooijakkers as 5 kilometers later he is caught by the chasers and we will probably see a sprint between the escapes for the stage win now
At the same time, Lloret, Bettini, Nicacio, Kiserlovski and Gustov attacked from the pack with the goal to catch Nocentini as the Italian started to gain precious time over the pack
The sprint starts with Danacik leading the breakaway group
And the only ones that can keep it up with him are Rovny and Boucher as they come very close to him with 1 km before the finish
Dall'Antonia is also coming but it might be to late for him now
100 meters before the finish Rovny and Danacik are leveled
And the winner is... Rovny! Just second for Danacik there, Boucher third
The late attackers managed to catch Nocencini and Bettini lead the the new group to the finish line and brought it in the same time with the escapes
Astarloza, Basso and Napoliatano lead the pack but they lost 1 minute and 12 seconds today
We also have a new leader. Nicacio was one of the fastest riders yesterday and finished in the winner's time today. The previous leader, Lang, didn't finish in the pack today and now he is way back in the GC
