Giro del Trentino - Stage 1
alexkr00
The opening stage of the Italian race is an individual time - trial. It's only 9 kilometers long so we should see big gaps made between the GC favorites. For the stage the big favorites are Lang and Larsson but we can always see a surprise.

The first rider to start today was Rincon. He had quite a nice time: 11'48
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0003-9.jpg

But he didn't stay in the lead for too long as Damrow was 10 seconds faster than him
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0004-8.jpg

Nocentini one of the GC favorites isn't really a TT specialist but he came with a nice time, just 6 seconds slower than Damrow
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0005-5.jpg

Surprising the Ikea leader, Taaramae, wasn't able to beat Damrow's time, finishing 3 seconds behind the German rider
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0006-6.jpg

But Damrow lost the lead a few moments later as the Brazilian TT champion, Nicacio, beat his time by 6 seconds
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0010-3.jpg

Somehow Carrara isn't Olympus Air Asia's leader for this race and this TT might show why as he was 41 seconds slower than Nicacio
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0013-4.jpg

Sutherland could have been a real threat for Nicacio but he was 9 seconds slower than the Energie Diesel rider
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0016-2.jpg

Molteni's leader, Noval, had quite a nice ride but still he lost 18 seconds to Nicacio
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0018-2.jpg

Then the big favorite came. Lang had no problems taking the lead, being 18 seconds faster than Nicacio
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0021-3.jpg

Larsson could had a nice chance to beat Lang today but he finished 16 seconds behind the German champion
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0024-2.jpg

Strong ride for Mercado in the opening stage but still 28 seconds slower than Lang
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0025-1.jpg

One of Mercado's rivals Lloret managed to beat his time by 2 seconds
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0028-2.jpg

Gustov is the Lego leader but looking at the competition that he has hear it will be really hard for him to do anything notable. Today he lost 37 seconds to Lang
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0031-1.jpg

And here it is the big GC favorite Pedraza. But he didn't manage a great time as he finished 28 seconds behind Lang, same time as Mercado
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0033-4.jpg

Astarloza looks to be the fastest from the GC favorites, just 23 seconds lost to Lang
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0036-2.jpg

Kiserlovksi lost 35 seconds today but hopefully for M&M he will do better in the upcoming stages
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0039-2.jpg

Vespa came here with Basso and 'Brillo' didn't let them down, or at least for this stage. Basso finished just 2 seconds behind Astarloza, the best GC rider today, and 25 behind Lang, most likely the winner of the stage
i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/alexkr_cofidis/PCM0042-1.jpg

The last rider to start today was Ghisalberti, another strong Sony Ericsson rider but he lost 31 seconds to his team - mate, Lang, today, but he was just 3 seconds slower than his team - leader, Pedraza.
