I have looked over other threads, but I don't believe I have made the mistake that others have which all the previous replies refer to.
I downloaded the PCM Daily Expansion Pack, then the Portuguese Add-On (Tugacidade.cdb).
I have since downloaded and installed the PCM daily 2009 DB (final) + 2010 Transfer Update.
It means I've got about 4 or 5 databases to choose from, which I'm quite content with. But when starting games now with any of the older DB (ie. any except the PCM Daily 2009 final) I have problems with shirts on the teams page and the mini-shirts pre-race not being shown for the following teams:
Barbot-Siper
Drapac-Porsche
Madeinox
I have also found that on the scouting screens, the third option (France being the first, Italy second) is described as Africa & Asia, with a map of that region, but transposed over the top of it is the only countries you can click on that screen, the Benelux nations.
I have no other issues - unlike others who have posted all my other countries on scouting seem fine. All other shirts are fine.
Is there a way I can resolve these problems? Moving/replacing/deleting files somewhere?
I also checked, and I still have the file OriginalLocal.cdb within Program Files/Cyanide/PCM/Database.
When I use the PCMdaily2009final I don't seem to get any of these issues (although I don't think Drapac-Porsche are available on that DB so that'd be one less to worry about).
Thanks in advance.

I think if I remember correctly, I had to delete the folders with country flags and team shirts, so that the new DB would work. But I suspect that those folders had a handful of shirts and other info that might be needed for the older DB. |

It all depends what the name of the mini-shirt is. A pink shirt means the game can't find it which means the shirt is not where it should be.
Quickest fix is to note down the affected shirts and then open the .db affected in an editor. Look at the 3 digit code for the team, then check the mini-shirt folder in GUI to see if you have the mini-shirt.
If you don't, just copy and rename the file used in another database. |

I know for a fact that the shirts you need for PCM.daily's 2009 (and 2010) DB are definitely included with the main package. So, if that one is installed correctly, you will have all of them.
About the scouting thing, those details are stored in Local.cdb. You can only have one of these installed at the same time, and since there's not compatibility between the 2009 Local and the Expansion Pack Local, you will have to manually change them (the Local.cdb), every time you change the DB. |

Thanks for the replies, but sorry you're going to have to break it down a bit simpler for me because I don't understand.
fenian - In GUI folder, the DPC shirt is missing but the other 2 are there. When, in the game, I look up Continental teams there are links to the teams with parts of their shirts shown. In this screen, some teams icons are pink.
How can I copy the missing ones, and where from? I only have 1 gui folder, I don't have multiple gui folders, just multiple game databases.
I have just found more that are missing. From the very original DB before I downloaded any others, Amicale, CCC Popol and Patatrac are pink.
None of these 3 team are in the PCMdaily2009 DB. Drapac-Porsche is also not in the PCMdaily2009 DB, and the Madeinox and Barbot-Siper teams have slightly different names (they have spaces between the dash and names, the older DBs don't leave spaces.
So I'm thinking that these team shirts (not necessarily mini shirts but the ones that show on the teams page) have been deleted when I installed the PCMdaily 2009 DB or that the changing of names means it's not picking up the shirts properly.
CrueTrue - I appreciate your help, the full PCMdaily2009 seems fine on it's own (although note what I've said about the teams listed above). But it seems as though installing it and copying the new DB over the previous files has screwed up my older databases?
For the scouting regions, how do I manually change the Local.cdb?
In the my documents/PCM 2009 folder I have Local.cdb and OriginalLocal.cdb, do I have to delete one of these? I have no idea how to 'select' one of them over the other.
Thanks again folks

When installing the PCM.daily 09 DB, you're asked the delete two folders. By doing that, you also delete some of the original game material which means that it may be lacking for other DBs that you're using.
To prevent this, it's recommended to have one game installation per game. What I do is that I have a clean copy (no DBs installed) of PCM on my computer. When I want to install a DB, I copy this clean folder and rename it to e.g. "PCM.daily's 09 DB" and install the DB to this folder. When I want to play with that DB, I open that game installation. If I want to play the original game, I open my clean installation.
About the Local.cdb thing. One comes with the game - it's overwritten when you install PCM.daily's 2009 DB, though. If you want to use the original one, you'd have to back it up first. When you want to use the original DB, you have to replace the PCM.daily 09 DB Local.cdb with the one that you've made a backup of. |

Ah...so I have in effect deleted these team's info during the install process for the latest version.
But if I rename the PCMdaily2009'd version I have now and put it somewhere else, then reinstall the game, I'll get the info back for the older DBs.
But exactly which files do I exchange - when you say "you have to replace the PCM.daily 09 DB Local.cdb with the one that you've made a backup of." which file(s) am I deleting?
Under My Documents/PCM/Database I have OriginalLocal.cdb and Local.cdb - I assume it is one of (or both) of these I need to replace?
That's the shirts thing sorted, is there a way to sort out the scouted countries thing? I'd ideally like to have the fuller version of countries (the PCM daily 2009 version) available for all DBs, is that possible? |

The scouting zones and the Local.cdb problem is the same.
What I'm asking you to do is that when you install the game again, make a copy of the Local.cdb in My Docs/PCM. Call it something along the lines of LocalOriginalDB.cdb.
When you install the PCM.daily DB, it will overwrite the Local.cdb. This only works "properly" with the PCM.daily DB. So, when you want to play with the original DB, rename the Local.cdb to LocalPCMdailyDB.cdb and the LocalOriginalDB.cdb to Local.cdb.
You have to do this every time you wish to switch DBs.
I'm sorry if it's not explained well enough - it sounds complex, but it really isn't |

All the mini shirts are in the mini-shirt sub-folder of the GUI folder. The way I understood it is that you've installed 3 or 4 different DB's and as part of this process have deleted some things from this folder.
If you know which mini's you're missing the quickest way to fix this will be to make the mini (or acquire a copy) and place them into this folder. There's an article on the front page on how to make them. The first one might take you about 10 minutes, after that it should take no more than a minute or so for the others. |

Fenian, thanks but replacing the minis wasn't a problem. They're actually still there.
It's that the newer DB refers to the teams with different names, so it doesn't seem to pick up the team icons properly. The minishirts being missing I reckoned I could fix as you've described, but the teams pages - I don't know where the game takes those images from, I haven't been able to find them in the gui folder.
Crue,
I have backed up my saved games then deleted the whole thing and started again, seemed best way.
Installed once, downloaded the expansion then tugicidade updates then renamed the whole PCM 2009 folder.
Installed again, and downloaded the PCM daily 2009 (final).
Did exactly as you've said - it did understand this time - but it didn't work. The game created another two files called Local.cdb~ and OriginalLocal.cdb and the game ran with the new features (like the expanded scouting regions but the same problem if I use an older DB). |

I'm pretty sure that you have to uninstall the game entirely. I know it sounds unlogically, but I'm pretty sure that it will work. |

You mean when I want to play the older DBs, I need to uninstall the new version of the game that I installed?
I reckon that will work, but it seems like an awful lot of hassle when you're awkward like me and play 2-3 games intermittently using different DBs! Think I'll maybe just put up with pink shirts and some crazy geography if that's the solution.
Thanks for the help anyway. |

That's not what I'm saying.
I'm saying that to get the original Local.cdb, you have to uninstall the game completely. When that's done, back it up and do what I said in post #9. |

That's exactly what I did, in post #11. I uninstalled the entire game (except for 4 saved games which I put in a folder on the desktop).
I then installed the game. I downloaded the expansion pack and portuguese update.
I then moved that whole folder from My Docs onto my other HD.
I then installed the game again, and downloaded the PCM Daily 2009 (final). I put this into a different folder, again on my 2nd HD.
I then tried to test the first DB - copying it over to Program Files & My Docs (so I basically had 3 lots of PCM on the computer). This was the old version. I opened the game, started a new career, and it worked.
So I then exited the game, deleted the Local.cdb file(cos I had another copy on my other HD so didn't need to rename), copied the Local.cdb from the newer DB into the version of the game saved under MyDocs.
This also worked.
But then when I followed the exact same process to go back and use the older DB, I ended up getting the same problems again. It is as if just using the newer DB once alters some of the file directories slightly so that key information doesn't pull through into the game.
I can delete all the Local.cdb files and then copy over the newer version (the one from PCM daily 2009 final) and it's ok. But the older one only works if I delete the whole game folder and then copy the entire game folder over from my 2nd HD.
I guess they're just not entirely compatible. In any case I don't mind it too much, the game is still playable it's just a cosmetic blip. |

That's weird. The method works for me. Only difference is that I have the Local.cdb in a .rar-file, but I don't think that it makes any difference.
I'm rather clueless at this point. I'll let you know if I come up with something. |

Sorry folks, another issue I've noticed.
In many races (but not all), one of my riders seems to be wearing a plain white UCI shirt (like a World Champ shirt without the rainbow).
These are all saved games that I've created custom teams in, some with custom shirts and others just ones that were already in the game.
Pozzato for example was wearing it in Paris-Roubaix. I'm still in season 2009, Simeoni is Italian champ, there is absolutely no reason I can think of for Pozatto to be wearing anything other than a regular team shirt?
To test it out, with the PCM2009daily update DB, I created a new game yesterday with a custom team. Same thing happened - GP Marseille and Jani Brajkovic is wearing a white jersey...he's not even Slovenian champ so should be wearing a team shirt.
Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a reason for it?
Thanks in advance

Could you perhaps attach a screenshot of the jersey? |
