Stage 2 is perhaps the most decisive as it's the only that ends in a top. With this said, the GC contenders must move today. What will happen in this decisive stage?
Da Waele, Khalilikhosroshani, Richeze, Quinzato and Rénier are the first to pass in the first mountain sprint. Korzh, Stillfors, Sambris, Cassidy, Mancuso, Vanderaerden, Gatto and Te Brake are also in front of the pack.
Da Waele is also first in the intermediate sprint. Khalilikhosroshani and Rénier also get points.
Two groups join together in the front. Only Vanderaerden, Korzh, Gatto and Te Brake can't get to the front.
Vanderaerden and Korzh use the downhill to join the group.
Midway over the second climb, Fernández Oliveira, Pires, Cardoso, Ramos Gomez and Esmaeli attack.
Over the top, the top 3 order: Sambris, Stillfors and Khalilikhosroshani.
Fernández Oliveira, Cardoso and Ramos Gomez pass Gatto and Te Brake and are at 2 minutes of the front riders.
Vanderaerden, Quinziato and Korzh make the podium in the second intermediate sprint.
NVidia and Benfica relay in the peloton at 62km to go. They have 5 minutes and a half to recover on the front riders.
Gatto and Te Brake are dropped in a short ascent with 44km to go. The trio still have a minute to recover on the break riders.
Pires and Esmaeli are caught by the peloton after that short ascent. The gap to the front is 4 minutes.
Vanderaerden, Cassidy and Sambris lead the front group on the last intermediate sprint.
Gatto and Te Brake are caught with 28km to go. 3'10'' is the gap to the front.
Shortly after the start of the climb, Fernández Oliveira leaves Cardoso and Ramos Gomez and catches the front group of early break riders, taking the lead.
Ortega and De Greef attack with 20km to go.
Fernández Oliveira sat in a break rider's wheel and his group is now caught.
Ortega and Da Waele are the only riders in front of the peloton with 17km to go.
Until the attacks of Pedraza, Caruso, Taaramae and Basso. Da Waele was dropped by Ortega as soon as the road rose again.
Efimkin, De Greef, Pfannberger, Astarloza, Alarcon and MartÃnez follow. Only Efimkin and De Greef get a gap, though.
Colom Mas, Nazaret and Becerra also try to escape. Astarloza and MartÃnez follow later.
Basso and Ortega are dropped from the front! Efimkin catches them.
With 4km to go, new situation after those attacks:
Pedraza, Caruso and Taaramae.
+ 24'' - Ortega and Astarloza.
+ 32'' - Nazaret (who is attacking), Efimkin, De Greef, Colom Mas, Becerra, Basso.
Nazaret passes Ortega and Astarloza but has a disadvantage of 40 seconds to the front trio.
At the entry of the last kilometer, Taaramae seems to be losing contact.
Pedraza takes the win in front of Caruso and Taaramae! The Italian keeps the race lead.
Nazaret is the fourth at more than 40 seconds. Still one stage to recover the losses.
