The Bloemfontein Classic takes us back to South Africa. What will this hilly route throw up?
Well, a breakaway of course! Haueisen, Traksel, Fischer, Pancake, Gaywood, Rutkiewicz, and Terpstra
Interesting move with 102km to go - Froome attacks, covered by Muravjev
But Wiggle are having none of it. Ponzi, Caruso, Scarponi, Caruso and Costagli are straight to the front. They close down the duo in just 10km.
Dont let Ponzi foll you, the Wiggle domestiques are in for a hard day of work today - with some help from Nespresso.
And so the race settles down, for quite some time. Until as we approache the penultimate lap, Niki Terpstra attacks away from the rest of his break, wary of their ever-decreasing lead
Soon into this lap, 35km to go, Dan Martin attacks. He has had success in South Africa already this season.
Nocentini, Elmiger and Anza follow first. Then Kessler, Kunshin, Ben Nasser, Duret, Bertagnolli and various others all follow.
This is too many riders though, and theyre brought back with 30km to go along with 6/7 of the breakaway.
Niki Terpstra still leads, and into the final lap he goes. Just under 18km to go, with a 50 second lead
Here we go again! Kessler attacks the pack
Bertagnolli follows immediately
They catch Terpstra, and drop him soon after
But also on the move is a 2nd Nespresso rider - Fedrigo, who wants to make it a lead group of 3
The response from Sony Ericsson and 100% Me is to try to chase, rather than create a counter move. Chasing wont work though, NOcentini knows this and despite his teammate being ahead he is trying to attack every 10 seconds - just not getting far. Anza did also try but like Nocentini, got no gap.
So it is soon clear. This race is a 2-horse race. Bertagnolli v Kessler, with Fedrigo looking solid for 3rd and Terpstra still there riding, hanging on in 4th.
Kessler is slightly stronger on paper than Bertagnolli, but this is going to be very close.
Back in the pack, the battle for 5th, maybe 4th, commences. Anza attacks and this time goes away. Nocentini follows, as does Nolan Hoffman.
Now to see who wins, and Kessler leads off the sprint
Here is Bertagnolli's move
And he starts to pull away
Leonardo Bertagnolli wins the Bloemfontein Classic
Kessler is 2nd while Fedrigo comes in for 3rd
Nocentini wins the battle for 4th
A strong 5th for Hoffman, beating Anza
Rovny also put in a late attack to take 7th
And Terpstra hangs on ahead of the pack to finish 8th, with a 100% Me block leading in the peleton, Roche beating Martin in a battle of Irishmen.
