Starforce Frontline problem
stuartmcstuart
Hey people

I'm a new member but not new to the forums, a frequent browser during work! I'm having a problem with my edition of Pro Cycling Manager 2007, which I hope someone is able to help me with. The game was bought from play.com and runs fine on my system.

The problem I have is that every three days when I try to play my game, starforce frontline protection seems to freeze when performing a disc check. The thing opens at a third 'checked' but then stops. When you click on the box windows Vista tells me its not responding. I have left it for hours but nothing happens. Running windows task manager tells me my CPU is maxed out at 100% and I have to cut the power and reboot my computer for anything to work.

The strange thing is that it has worked twice after a few reboots, but now no longer seems interested, and that is after 3 days of rebooting my computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game but that didn't help. Any assistance you could give me in this matter would be most welcome. My system information is displayed below.

System Information:

Windows Vista
Amd 5000+ 64X2 2.6 GHz
Ati Radeon X1300 Pro
Direct X9
4GB RAM
320GB Hard Drive
32Bit System

it's more a case of Vista doesn't like most programs. and memories. and motherboards. and anything at all.

that'll come to terms with the future service packs Smile

Oh I do hope so Smile

this morning I thought I would give it one more go (before going to work Sad ) and amazingly, it checked my game disc first time, and pcm launched. So heres to 3 days of bliss before the hell starts all over again!

Or rather, it would be, if I wasn't going away this weekend Angry

In our download section, we have a No-CD crack available, making it possible to play the game without a disc, thus there's no need for a Starforce check. You could try it out if you experience problems again.

Another possible sollution (it is not one of the most saintly approaches...) is to download DeamonTools (and some extra required software) and loading your CD with DT. This way, the Starforce 'protection' is bypassed...

Thanks C-T and RiderJan Smile, at least I'll have something to work on if it happens again tomorrow when its due its next check. I have used Deamon before for pcm2006 on my previous computer, but I'm a little wary as like Crommy says, it comes with a bad rep in regards to pcm.

I'm hoping something works, in the middle of a very absorbing Paris-Nice Wink

The no-CD crack should work just fine, so before trying the Deamon Tools-thing, try that Wink

Tried the no-CD crack this morning, after my problems flared up again. It seems to be working perfectly Smile

Thanks for the help Wink

Sorry for bumping this thread, but I have the same problem, and there is no no - cd for patch 1.0.3.1. I have an original PCM - cd, but it simply freezes when Starforce is going to check.

Now I can't play online anymore:cry:

Any solution (no cd patch, starforce update or something?)

starforce removal tool. run it to uninstall starforce, then run the game (it'll probably tell you that it needs to reinstall starforce and reboot. which you should let it do.)

It didn't help anything. I am going to e-mail starforce about this I think. Don't expect any reaction though...
