As I personally have always had an interest in, and there seems to be a lot of talk about doping on this forum I thought I'd start a thread for it in hopes that people will use it
My thought was to have a Q / A type thread where people who have more knowledge on doping can help to answer some of the questions that others have because the details of it aren't often talked about.
I'd also just like to see general discussion about which riders / teams are doping and things of the sort. I guess this could be your destination for all things doping that don't fall into another category primarily.
So I'll start it off: Does anyone know if / which sprinters dope and what do they use? I know Petacchi got caught goin' to town on his inhaler and Zabel with EPO and I've heard that some will take artificial ATP or Adrenaline / Epinephrine? Guess I just never saw the benefit of typical oxygen carriers to help sprinters as the main kick is all Anaerobic.
Thanks and Hope People Like The Thread

Your assumption seems to be correct, from the "tales of the peloton" that we hear from the few former riders/doctors/etc that dare speak of it
Sprinters as a general rule tend to be fairly clean. The steroids that can really help are very easy to detect, so ,they're not widely used.

Well that's good to know, I won't be expected to dope once I go pro and that most of my cycling heroes are likely to be clean.!

If I'd have to point someone I'd say Wiggins. |

Are you saying because they don't have any stand-out riders so to speak until Wiggins this year anyway?(And Cav but I think we said sprinters usually don't dope earlier) Or do you just mean you don't think they would?

I wouldn't be surprised if Wiggins is doping, as Garmin has gone from trustable team to a team with zero credability theese last few months. So this will make me think millar is doping too.

Some may but I think most can just work on their climbing / lose a little weight if that's an issue for them, and the time cut off is usually pretty generous I think. But I never considered that to be honest, I'm curious what Isso's take on it is.

Sorry I didn't mean for this to be the ONLY place for doping discussion just a place for it if someone wishes to speak about it and it doesn't relate to another active thread.
Thanks

I think you should read Mark Cavendish biography "Boy Racer". It has some interesting thoughts by Cav about the doping thing |

I can't see why the sprinters wouldn't dope - give you that little bit extra at the end of a fast (or slow) 200k stage. Zabel, I'm quite sure didn't just try it once and not like it.... |

they can use it to have more energy, increase there stamina, or there climbing abillities... Sprinter can be doped, like all the other.

Even sprinters use doping to be fresher in the end. Jaan Kirsipuu once said that after big doping cases he had fresher legs for sprints. That means that everyone holds off doping and the speeds in the last 5km decrease. But he says doping doesn't give much for top speed in the last 100m, it just lets you have more energy for the sprint (so you can let your teamates cook the clean sprinters in the last km-s).

Speaking of doping.
Here's a quote by Kohl
Kohl is a drunk. Seriously.
