Oh boy, another criterium! And this time is the last because today's stage ends Tour of Japan. A completely flat stage means that Lloret wouldn't have problems keeping his yellow jersey, right? But the green jersey is also, and mainly, on the line, as Moreno has an advantage of 14 points over Priamo and 15 over Hoffman and expect these two to get good positions in the final sprint.
Right in the beginning of the stage, five riders try to make the break of the day. Their names: Sampaio, Inoue, Perez Arango, Wacker and Belmokhtar.
They are working well at the front. 100km to go and the advantage is 8'30''.
But the peloton, though very disorganized, raises the speed. Breakaway's maximum advantage was 9'30''.
70km to go and only two men from both Sony Ericsson and Vespa-Caffrey's relay in the pack. The gap is in 6 minutes and a half.
20km were passed and the advantage is 2 minutes lower.
30km to go and the gap is 3'30''. Can the break make to the end?
But the riders that were chasing during too many kilometers were replaced by riders from Irn Bru, NVidia, Nespresso and Acqua & Sapone.
And the breakaway ends with 10 km to go.
Falls! Stetina, 15th Overall; Lewis, 10th Overall and White Jersey holder; Moreno, 6th Overall and Green Jersey holder are the most notable names.
At 6km to go, Richeze leads Hoffman on the left side while in the right side Keisse leads Priamo. Gatto and Awang follow Priamo as well as the Acqua & Sapone riders (Godfrey and Murphy), the Irn Bru riders (Jamieson and Sutton) and the NVidia riders (Glomser and Weissinger). Johansson, who relayed a lot, leads Bazajev.
The sprint is on! The two Acqua & Sapone riders are in the front.
Same situation 1km later. Vespa rider who is in third is not Gatto but Garbelli as the train composed by Keisse, Priamo, Gatto and Awang is too far behind.
Under the banner, Murphy is the leader but Garbelli seems to be closing in!
500 meters to go, and Murphy has it on the bag! Sutton is quickly gaining on Garbelli...
Arms raised, it's victory for Murphy in an odd sprint! Sutton passes Garbelli right on the line.
More than 3 and a half minutes later, come Moreno, Stetina and Lewis. Moreno and Lewis lose their jerseys and their top 10 placements.
Lloret wins the Tour of Japan over Ghisalberti, the pre-race big favourite. The two remain jerseys changed of owner in this last stage as Hoffman wins the Points Classification and Bjelkmark wins the Young Rider Classification.
