Recently I decided to play an out of career edition of La Vuelta and to keep things interesting I only had Non Pro Tour teams signed up. (CTT and LPR weren't there in an attempt to keep a level playing field) I decided to play as Xacobeo Galicia and naturally Mosquera was my leader.
I realized after starting it that was maybe a bit unfair as Mosquera was 80MO and the next highest was Blanco I believe with 76 and then Moos with 74. Needless to say I expected I would have an easy time with winning this due to the huge stat difference.
The strange thing is, once I got started, and things got into the Mountains, Mosquera was NOT tearing it up like I expected he would. There were multiple times that he could only stay with the leading group containing Moos and Blanco and Pardilla etc. and a few times when Pardilla and Blanco made up some time on him.
As some background it was NOT on all random fitness wise and even on the best days (+4 or +5) Mosquera could only get limited amounts of time on the others (1min - 1min 15sec usually) and ended up winning by less than a minute I believe.
So my question is, does PCM just take the favorites list and then give everyone potential to win based on where they lie on that list regardless of their stats or was this just a very strange occurrence?
For those who may be considering that I just didn't know how to play well enough, I believe I do, I regularly have no problem letting my riders place significantly higher than they are favored.
Even with your last paragraph, it sounds like you suck
Seriously speaking, there's more to it than just MO. There's also the STA, RES, END, the difficulty level, the fitness, the recuperation from other stages, etc.
I also noticed, it may be the FTR stat because I never fully understood what that did, but when I would attack, he would go from a full red bar to nothing within a second or two but still have full yellow whereas others could just keep a really long attack going.
It was very frustrating because he rarely had the Red bar to attack and get a little extra time but always had a considerable store of yellow.
A bit embarrassing at this point to ask being that I've played PCM for a few years but is there a basic guide somewhere as to what all the stats do? I understand probably 90% of it but I have a feeling that last 10% is important =p
I vaguely recall looking for a more comprehensive guide after the Cyanide one was disappointing and not finding anything so I just played as best as I could.
