First stage of the American tour, a short flat prologue, but with a small uphill section somewhere at the half of the route. The big favourites on paper are pretty much from two teams, BMC and Nespresso. This could also be a good oportunity for Danielson to win some time over his opponents as he is the best time - trialist from the GC riders.
The first rider that started today was Rollin and he came up with a pretty good performance, which placed him in the lead for an while: 6'28
Kiryenka was the first rider to beat him though the Belarus Champion was only 1 second faster than Rollin
Henao Montoya was credited with the number one for this race as he seems to be the best climber in the race and he is a also a pretty good time - trialist. Still he lost 10 seconds today to his team - mate, Kiryenka
Right after Henao Montoya, Danielson started. He came up with a very good performance and managed to beat Kiryenka. Again the difference was just made by one second.
Behind Danielson came another time - trial specialits: Ben Jacques - Maynes. And surprising some people he has faster than Danielson. For the third time today the leader was changed for only one second
First race this season for Acqua & Sapone. Their time - trial specialist, Griffith and Godfrey come with very strong performances, Godfrey looking to get a place in the top 10 today
The main favourite today, Gutierrez Palacios confirmed that and came with an amazing time to take the lead: 6'22
One of Danielson main team - mates for this race, Trent Lowe end up with a good time for himself, 11 seconds slower than Gutierrez
Raisin is Ernst & Young's main hope for this race. He managed not to lose too many time to Danielson, only 4 seconds slower. Still he was faster than Henao Montoya, being faster with 7 seconds than the Columbian rider
Another strong time - trialist from Nespresso is Mazur. He lost 2 seconds to his team - mate, Gutierrez, but he was one second faster than Jacques - Maynes, which means that Nespresso has an virtual 1-2
Petrov is Walmart's leader for this race. He had the same performance as Raisin, 9 seconds slower than Gutierrez Palacios
Donald is one of the last favourites of today's prologue to start. And he took the lead, again for only one second.
Koren was the last rider that could have chande anything but he finished in the 6th position, 5 seconds behind Donald.
And Donald is the first yellow jersey of the race
