it made perfect sense. he said he was happy, bla bla, etc.
then the exact day the new anti-doping programme was announced, he turned around and announced he and Kessler were leaving because "the team refuses to renew the contracts of Guerini, Gonchar and other important helpers". to which Stapleton replied that that made no sense, as those two already had those contracts renewed. Klöden left anyway.
meanwhile he maintains that Kessler and Ullrich are innoncent despite all the evidence.
Klöden is not on the good guys' side, it's that simple.
EDIT: and as for him winning the Tour, he has a big problem: he's mentally weak. being in the spotlight frightens him. it happens to a few, and in terms of effects on the racing itself, it's a big disadvantage as it leads to randomly having bad days on the bike more often than would usually be the case.
(see Olano, Frigo, etc.)

Yep, he's said it himself often enough. He prefers to be a helper rather than being a leader

Brian Vandborg will probably go to GLS
Mirko Celestino has ended his career, probably because it's too difficult to be a dopie now-a-days, unless you pay a lot of money for "good" products.
Jaksche has been speaking with T-Mobile about a contract offer, but they have not managed to come to an agreement.
Allan Johansen goes to Team Designa Køkken after Paris - Roubaix. Andre Steensen goes from Designa Køkken to CSC at the same time.

HAH How often do I have transfer news
Kirk O'Bee will ride for Health-Net next season. He kinda sorta never really left the team but he had trouble getting a job for next season what with his very Moninger-esque doping suspension. Right now he is focusing on qualifying for Beijing on the track.

David Bernabeu to Barbot-Siper...
It's official... Portugal's new catch frase is "Portugal... We believe you are clean... Well not really... But we'll close our eyes and pretend it never happened..."

"Portugal: come for the doping, stay for the hospitality".
not a bad slogan for the tourism department
