big mistake for germany at the start, lucky that it still was enough for the medal. |

YES!
I thought we might have blown it when Hoy left such a gap to Kenny.

Hoy couldn't get Kenny's wheel, but they managed to pull it off
I'm genuinely suprised they beat the French. I'm so happy for the team

Very poor ride from David o' Loughlin in the 4000m pursuit.
Finished 11th with a time of 4 min 26.101,well over his pb of 4 min 20.91.

The medals have been presented and during the national anthem, Staff, Hoy and Kenny were on the verge of tears, you could tell because of their watery-eyes and general "brink of tears" faces...
It was an emotional moment

An intersting read.
Shows how far we have come from the dark days of the early 90's.

I think the article understates the importance of the velodrome at Manchester. That along with lottery funding was the catalyst for success. Boardman although a one-off, also deserves a lot of credit for showing what was possible to any talented young cyclist at just the right time.
I remember well the dark days (which really was the 1980's) - we were lucky if we had anyone in it let alone in medal contention.
To this 40-something ex-bike rider, it is a source of great astonishment that British Cycling is responsible for so many Olympic medals. |

If Great Britain, being Great as it is, had trouble getting enough funding for this sport, now imagine the difficulties of a small country. |

This is the part where I'd like to put every PCM player in the world in front of the TV, point at the Keirins and yell in their ear "SEE?? THERE IS NO FRICKING BLOCKING!!!! WHEN THERE IS THEY ALL CRASH"

Great job by Burke to get to the medal rides in the Pursuit, good shout of a Bronze now.
Easy does it for Hoy in the Keirin Round 1 - In the 2nd heat a Chinese guy tried to copy him - failed miserably and came last.
