After digging through records for 15 minutes I can confirm the last Vuelta to be raced without the participation of Iñigo Cuesta was in 1993. Yikes.

He was not good enough today. Nothing happened. Videos are on youtube btw Wink

I think Sanchez is having the classical 'bad day after crashing'. Almost always happens, he is just sore from the crash.

I think he will be back at 100% this weekend. And it could have been on a worse day, after all he only lost about 1 minute.

Actually Frank Schleck has said that he and Samu got caught behind one of the support cars, that pulled over in the right side of the road on the final climb. More a bad excuse than anything really. I remember the incident and true enough Frank was riding on the right side of another rider pressing him more up against the support car on the narrow road, forcing him to break left on of the steeper parts of the climbs. He looked pretty cooked at the time though, and in all honesty he was gonna be dropped anyway.

Again, Samu still stands a great chance in this Vuelta. He's just about at one minute in the GC, plus the time trial later should really suit him compared to a guy like Evans.

I'm happy with Danielson!! Still hanging strong, waiting for that TT to see what he can do. I believe in a top 5.

Garmin still doing everything they can to sign Contador.

The press are now entertaining themselves with the rumour that Sky will help Garmin pay to release Contador from his contract and join Garmin, and in exchange Wiggins would join Sky.

Not the excuse Sammy Sanchez is using. He says he just had a very difficult day, all the way from start to finish. Sore from the crash, it hurts etcetera. He also aknowledges that he was stupid trying to follow the attacks and counterattacks on the last climbs, which wasn't a good thing to do in his situation. That made him suffer a lot to keep his rhythm on the latter part of the climb, where he was helped by Anton and Txurruka. Anyway, the Vuelta is not yet over and the most important thing for now is to recover from his injuries.

To me it sounds like the normal post - crash business. Luckily the coming two stages and the rest day are not superdemaning, hope he can fully recover from it for the three-day queen stage.

I hope Tommy D can continue to do well. He's had a rough couple years, maybe this is the year when he gets back onto Disco track

I was encouraged to see Basso sit on Evans and Valverde's wheel yesterday without too many problems.

Evans and Gesink I'm confident will fall away next weekend, Valverde is the only one looking good enough to beat Ivan.

I am presuming that Basso is going to get stronger as the race progresses.
