Seems good on paper, but we shall see how it works in practice when I get my hands on the update. Probably have to wait for Steam to release the update now. Nothing specifically directed at reducing the chances of the breakaway winning in front of the Peleton in sprint stages on paper.

Shall have to commence another round of cramming in tons of sprint stages from Stage Races through to Classics and the three Grand Tours.

Edit #1: Steam finally updated for me. Time to break things.

Having read through this thread and the bugs one I have to say I am completely put off by the idea of starting this game. (Currently on download).

How a games company can release a game whereby it contains so many glaring issues is quite frankly disgusting. The whole reason the game has been released now is to fall in line with the Tour De France... yet they have clearly given no consideration to fans of the genre because what they have released is a half assed attempt at a game which is clearly not ready yet!! All just to suck in some people during what I am sure will be extensive advertising over the course of the Tour.

This is the problem with games developers these days. Only in it to make a quick buck and clearly care very little about the people buying it. What makes it worse is that they know they don't even need to release official patches to fix the issues very quickly because other people will do that for them.

To say I am beyond frustrated is an understatement! Whilst the game may well already be purchased I will wait for some time before starting it up. In the mean time I will stick to PCM12 and write an email to the developers expressing my anger towards there plaster patch up job of a game which clearly should not be on the shelves right now!

It's the same every year. They take advantage of the awesome community to find the bugs for them. I don't really see a problem, because the game is quite cheap.
I have less patience for buggy releases from companies like Electronic Arts or Blizzard for example.

I'm more amazed than anything. The game hardly changes from year to year, especially the non-graphical part. Still, there are issues every year that make the game needlessly unrealistic, often outright unplayable. One would think that years of iterative work on more or less the same game would refine the gameplay..

Quite Cheap!?! I wouldn't say £29.99 is particularly cheap...perhaps in comparison to EA etc but for a company which is rather small in terms of the market it retails to and one which doesn't even manage to get official names onto the game I would argue £29.99 is pretty steep!

I don't really understand the criticism and the frustration. 85% of all problems always get solved within a month by a series of patches. 3D mode works fine, so for the next three and a half weeks you can still have loads of fun just playing the game in race mode, without starting a carreer.

Besides, we're talking about a small developer that caters to an equally small audience. I don't blame them for releasing essentially a beta and having us do the final testing. Even with its issues at launch, the games are well worth the money to a fan of the sport and the genre. I spent nearly 2 years loving PCM11 before I bought this, and that's only because I wanted to modernize, not because I was bored. That's a lot of value for money.

I paid £25. For the hours I play and the fun it gives me, I think it's a steal. This is a niche game and the sales should be pretty low. I don't mind that the first release is buggy and that the community helps them finding and fixing those bugs. You will still have 11 months to play before the next release.

If I add stages to the game with variants, do they work in the career I have or do I have to start new for that to work?

Ian Butler
Adding variants during your career will work. As soon as next season they'll be implemented.

Totally agree, the game has a lot of potential and with a few patches it will be a very good game which is worth the 45 euros I paid for it.

Right so my copy has arrived today and I have to say I'm impressed. Compared to PCM11 the animations are superb and the game looks great (Even if I'm running it with most options on 1 because my PC's a bit sucky). Only issues I've got is that: a) I can't find my Player Key anywhere in the box b) I'm finding it hard to bring breaks back (But I see others are having this issue) c) My computers not up to running this game at its full graphical potential (Which is a massive shame Sad ) and d) The multiplayer servers are down

PCM12 stages will work on PCM13 right?
But not in the other way I suppose?

Ian Butler
You still need to convert the stage.

Does the rider weight matter in this game? I know it matter on how he looks and that, but if its a very heavy rider is that an disadvantage or anything in long mountains? just started to wonder on that...Pfft
