Again, fantastic! But I can't find any fact right now, so I'll be looking for the right opportunity!

Bikex - Thanks, it'll change, though, but still a nice achievement
PCM rulezz - then let's try that!
Jakstar22 - Definitely. it's still only his second year!
FreitasPCM - Thanks
sutty68 - It would be early, but then again, Stijn is so talented he only needs a bit of luck to make it come true
rogvi97 - I'll be waiting for your fact |

World Championship 2013
Hi everyone,
Stijn is racing the Ronde Van Vlaanderen as we speak. I'm following it on television but right now the whole pack is still together, so I'm waiting for the action to start. Boonen is looking pretty good, though...
Anyways, I was just enjoying my breakfast when I got a call here, turns out it was the National Coach and he wanted to have a little chat with me, asked if he could come over, since he was in the Netherlands on business anyway. So I invited him over and he's at the house now, watching the Ronde with me.
First he congratulated me on my season so far, with the fabulous win of Tirreno - Adriatico, where I follow in De Vlaeminck's footsteps. But then he got to his business and I must say it's simply great! The National Coach is already looking for riders to compete in the World Championships 2013, and he turned to me! Nothings official and confirmed yet, but I'm on the list! It would be great for me to gain experience and help Gilbert win his first title!
Concerning the time trial, he had less answers and plans. He'll start deciding that when the national time trials arrive. So it's my duty to perform well there.
Just wanted to share all this with you, now I'm going to watch Stijn some more! See you later,
Willy |

That great to hear/read Willy will be very motivated for the WC if he is part of the selection.
What is the route for this year?

It's very hilly. Well, just one hill and they go over it 10 times or so So he could really help out, there! |

De Ronde Van Vlaanderen
Today promised to be good, all weather sites predicted the same: rain! Last year we saw Cancellara winning, would he follow in his own footsteps this year? I finished barely in the top 20 last year, aiming for a better spot now!
And the rain was everywhere! I loved it, though it demanded some casualties. Lars Boom hit the cobbles. The rain and temperatures around 3°C made for a tough day.
The whole race was extremely epic and I was loving it, I felt it was my time to shine!
An important group broke away with 60 km left to go: 2 time winner Devoler, Terpstra and Chavanel.
The chase went hard and everyone's legs were cold, but burning at the same time!
And then I got screwed. By picking up some members of the early breakaway, I got blocked in! Surely Cancellara wouldn't wait for me...
I had to chase myself and caught the group after a 4 km chase.
But as soon as I got myself back in the group, I had a flat! Not now! I was lucky to have the team car right behind me. I changed and had to go into the chase again...
But it was too far into the finale now. Cancellara had escaped and everyone was riding their own race now. I kept going and picked up a flamed out Sagan. Then I joined Hushovd, but that's as far as I could go.
Cancellara took a beautiful solo win.
I had Vanbilsen in my sights and tried to catch him, but I didn't succeed. Only a minute later I had to sprint Hushovd for place 6.
Naturally, I had wasted all my energy already, he took the 6th place in the sprint.
So I finish 7th. In advance, I would've liked that, but the way I rode today, I can't help feeling disappointed. I don't want to blow my own horn, but I thought I was among the five strongest today. My form was fantastic and the weather was on my side. I know I could've made the podium today with a bit of luck. But a blocking and a flat tire decided otherwise.

All that remains now is Paris - Roubaix. With its flat course, it may be the classic that suits me the best. Once again I'll be riding for a top 10, but if the legs are like today, I'll be hoping for a top 5. I'm only 23, but I believe I can do it!
Thanks for following,
Stijn |

sutty68 - Thanks
Ollfardh - Yeah, hope to do better in Roubaix (luck-wise) Vanbilsen is developing into quite a contender. Stats in spoiler.
Spoiler
He's younger than Stijn and has more COB and HILL stat, but Stijn has a lot more sprinting, acceleration. Stijn also has more RES and STA.

But luck happens some times
Vanbilsen seems like a real talent, we can expect some competition on the cobbles between Stijn and him

PCM rulezz - He sure is looking good. Maybe those two will become the new Boonen - Cancellara. Stijn is more like Boonen with his sprint, Vanbilsen is like Cancellara with his more HILL abilities.
SSJ2Luigi - Well, he was tired
rogvi97 - Thanks!
Jakstar22 - Let's hope he can turn into Voeckler from the Tour in Paris - Roubaix
Sure hope I can do Roubaix today, but it'll be hard. First I have to study for my exam tomorrow, and since it's my birthday, there'll be people dropping in to congratulate me for something I didn't have nothing to do with |
