I live in Iowa and won the Cat 4 Snake Alley race last year. I'm looking forward to the Cat 3's this year!
I remember those types of streets in San Fransisco, and always wanted to ride up them. You guys are lucky to live in CALI! |

I have a race on sunday called the Wente Criterium. I'm only doing the Juniors (because in a wierd twist of fate the juniors is at noon and not 8 like the elite category races) and 8 is far to early after prom night.

Had one of those rides where you feel like you're pedalling through air today. I smashed everyone.
Though I'll probably end up going 12mph tomorrow, trying to convince myself that it's a recovery ride

I just got out of school for the summer today. Thank god, the last few weeks have been crazy, I haven't been on a bike in almost two weeks.
I'm gonna do a fifty miler as soon as the weather gets nice enough, maybe tomorrow, maybe monday, but it'll be nice to get back on the bike |

Yeah, next year I'm gonna go for a new one.
I'm thinking
Felt FC Frame (If I can get it EP, I think I can)
Sram Force '10
$700 MSRP Wheelset (Ksyrium Elite, HED Kermesse, maybe a different one)
FSA or Easton cockpit
Look Keo's
Some saddle
I should be able to put that together for about $2200-$2500 (I love working in a bike shop)

I would suggest getting ultegra pedals instead. The difference between DA and Ultegra is a few grams and a lot of dough. They are great pedals too.
For a frame I would go with the BMC Racemaster SLX, the stiffest frame BMC makes and a favorite of many of the team riders including Stewart, Tolleson, Cruz, etc.
Ksyriums are always the best way to go.
Selle Italia makes really god sadals
Of course take what you can get for pro-deal. Your team should be able to offer you some good deals.

Lets begin
1) I work in a bike shop, I get stuff a hell of a lot cheaper than team deals
2) I can get a BMC, but I'm not willing to spend the money (I could get one EP, but its still a hell of a lot)
3) We're a Mavic dealer, so I can get the Ksyriums dirt cheap, and they are what I'm probably going to get
4) I don't need your advice, I'm sure you know a lot about bike tech, but, no offense, I know more.
5) I'm not going to get the Ultegra pedals, I do think that Shimano makes the best pedals on the market, and I do think the Ultegra pedals are the best bang-for-your-buck on the market, but their is no way I'm running Shimano pedals on a Sram drivetrain, I just can't.
6) I'll probably get a Selle Italia saddle, but I may get a fizik or Selle san marco one, I'm just not sure yet.

If #1 and #3 are true then why dd you say you were going to buy a 700$ set of ksyriums. I got my Sl's through the team for 400 and the elites were 250. Cosmic Carbone Sl's were 520.
Point #2: but it's a BMC! and is inherently kick ass.
Point 4: SOunds like you agree with me on all points except purely aesthetic ones. doesn't that mean we know a similar amount about bike tech?
Point 5: Simple Solution. its called ultegra Sl groupset with DA shifters. Through my team a full Ultegra Sl groupo would be under 600$ the pedals are 72.

I'd get the Ksyriums for a lot less, 700 is the MSRP, I'd get 20% off wholesale.
Also, I'm going SRAM, the '10 Force looks great, should be very good, and is American. Also its not getting anymore expensive, despite them completely re-doing it. Ultegra 6700 is going to be off the charts. |

What is wholesale? Isn't it off MSRP? Take 20% off that and I'm still getting a better deal than you. You need to join my team dude
The Ultegra Sl would be 6600 series for my team. And I did the math and it is 586$ plus tax.
Dura Ace came with my bike, but If I were to build a bike it would be Ultegra SL

Okay, so you go into a bike shop, and something costs $100. Most likely the bike shop bought it for $60, which is the wholesale price. I get wholesale price on practically everything (except actual bikes, were only a Trek dealer), but on certain brands (Trek, Bontrager, Gary Fisher, Mavic, Speedplay, a few others), we are a dealer so I get employee pricing, which tends to be 10-20% off wholesale. I also might be able to get EP pricing on Felt, BMC, and HED (and a few others, but I'm not 100% sure). |

Well, I'd been thinking about it for a while, and now it's here; I've just bought myself a racing bike. It'll be ready for me to come and get it thursday though...
But it's not just a bike: A Trek Madone 4.7. I'm really pleased with it
