I can tell you that he was not released over a year ago because he only came to Porto in the 2006/07 season. Before that he was in FC Infesta. Last year he was in the starting eleven of Porto's Juniores every match except one. He scored 5 goals and he has been in every single under 20 selection since the under 20 WC. He is still under contract with Porto (untill 2010 to be accurate) and he is on loan at Ribeirão (2nd Division Group A) where he is playing regularly and begining to shine. Rio Ave already want him on loan in December.
uhm, he hasn't played for so long I thought he'd been released. good to know he's doing well, but the lower divisions are completely different to the top one. hopefully he'll do well but there's no telling.

About Ukra, attacker, on loan at Varzim, first year on a senior team. Doesn't ring a bell?
which makes sense as he's always had "Monteiro" on his jersey at Porto.
as for his playing skill, see what I wrote above

Some seriously depressing news for me, but i must share it
5 people have been arrested in connection with alleged corruption within football. Those people are Harry Redknapp, Milan Mandric, Amdy Faye, Willie McKay and Peter Storrie.
Redknapp was accused of corruption last year/year before in a secret documentary made by the BBC using secret footage of dodgy deals (I watched it), Sam Allardyce and many other managers featured in it. After that documentary was shown Redknapp and other managers refused to do interviews on the BBC.
corruption in sports? surely not. that and doping. surely not in all sports either.
end of sarcasm

for comedy value, there's nothing quite like reading the Liverpool vs. Porto preview on the official Liverpool website.
apparently, Porto's coach is Luigi del Neri
somebody tell del Neri that then so he can get to Portugal to be introduced to the fans
also, apparently Porto's star player is a certain "Lucio". we're keeping our star player hidden then, since I've never seen anyone with that name play for Porto, ever.

Kaka, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the 3 players shortlisted for the world player of the year award. If Ronaldo wins then he'll be the first player ever to win it playing for an English team.
I think Ronaldo must win it, he's been awesome this year. Messi has as well, but rather inconsistent, and i haven't seen much of Kaka to be honest.
I'd say Kaka would be the favourite, he's already won the UEFA European club player of the year award (among others) and it wouldn't surprise me to see him win this.

Gazetta dello Sport always says a week early what the results will be and they're always right (surely they have inside info)
this year:
Káká
Ronaldo
Messi
and speaking of something entirely different, Braga played Bayern yesterday in the UEFA cup, and I loved the contrast between the fans.
random people in Braga being interviewed on the streets at ten in the morning:
"it's cold, very cold." overcoats and all.
the german fans, sitting in esplanades, most of them shirtless and all of them drinking beer:
"fantastic weather" (these are actual quotes)

nah, the game's 350km away. I'll be watching it on TV, or maybe on the PC if it's on pay-per-view

It appears that we aren't letting Mourinho say no without a fight
John Terry has said today that he wants Mourinho as the England boss and the FA need to contact him. Mourinho's agent did say last week that he thinks Mourinho may be interested but they hadn't actually talked about it with each other, he just knows that Jose loved managing in England
how many englishmen play for Arsenal again? oh right, two...one who has played a handful of games this season and another one who sat on the bench once in the last six months...
sounds like sour grapes for not being offered the job
EDIT: I'll quote Wenger two weeks ago on the subject of never hiring any englishmen at Arsenal: "Nationality doesn't matter. We're all Human. What matters is how you are as a person and as a player"

Jose Mourinho has refused to rule himself out of the running to become the next England manager in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports News.
The Portuguese, who is widely respected for his success at Chelsea and Porto, is currently out of work following his Stamford Bridge exit earlier this season.
Mourinho has been linked with the vacant post along with Italian Fabio Capello, although The FA have cooled talk on either succeeding McClaren.
However, the bookmakers and fans' favourite for the job is still to cross himself off their wanted list after Sky Sports News caught up with him while back home in Portugal.
When asked whether he could be the next England manager, he told Sky Sports News: "Why not?"
Mourinho then went onto to confirm the England post is something that would interest him, while also playing down talk he is using The FA to get a post elsewhere.
Big job
"Being England manager is a big job," he told Sky Sports News reporter Ian Bolton. "A big job is what I want.
"I'm not using The FA to get another job. I was upset when I heard the reports.
"People need to trust The FA. They should let them do their job properly. The fans should support the next man more than ever."
Mourinho was reported to be on his way to England for talks with the FA, but insisted that he wanted some time out of the media spotlight.
"To be fair I would like to be in London with my family for a couple of days, but nobody would believe the reason why we would be there -- which would be just to see some friends and do some Christmas shopping.
"So to try and stop speculation we decided not to go and to stay here. Anyway it is fantastic here, it is sunny and it is beautiful."
Mourinho on TV when asked about that article:
Whoever wrote it has some imagination. I've been in Spain the whole week, so I'm wondering how is it I gave an interview outside my house
aaaah the english press just keeps living up to it's reputation
