Nizzolo?
Well I was excluding sprinters as that is naturally a much closer thing, but for this kind of rider, difficult.

How awkward is it to celebrate like Jussi did and then finding out that you made an ass of yourself on TV?

Man, and I thought my Bardiani career was unrealistic because I won three stages in the Giro including a flat stage with Pirazzi... |

Didnt think Pirazzi would get that stage but guess when they are all tired it was finally a smart attack for the Italian

Yes, of course he would have won. Although not by that margin. I doubt anyone will claim that Hesjedal is the 2nd best climber in this race - and he only lost 7 secs.
Why not? At base of Stelvio gap was 1 min and then at finish it was 4 min. Fact is riders like Uran, Aru, Majka, Pozzo are still young, they cant accelerate and then set strong pace, something that Quintana has shown he can do, not this year but also TdF last year. I know Quintana is also 24 but having had a GC battle already is more mature. In final Km itself Quintana would have got 1min if he was in that group because it was very steep and he is very strong.
As far is Hesjedal is concerned, short climbs and 3 huge climbs and bad day is very different, no reason why Hesjedal would not have been up there.
When Hesjedal only loses 7 secs, and Rolland completely cracks and loses 1'13, then Uran, Aru, Majka and Pozzovivo would never have lost 2 mins on that final climb alone.
No doubt that Quintana would still win the Giro either way, but he would be wearing pink already today. |

2 OPQS riders finished ahead so they dont want huge decrease in gap for team classification. |

That would be one of the most emotional winners I have seen, this means alot to him.
Wellens is a big talent but keep your eyes on McCarthy aswell, has a touch of Gerrans about him but I'd say a little more talented

Totally normal to celebrate a 6th place? He thought he won, on the replay you could se Le Bon on the radio during the fininsh, probably screamingto Jussi that he didn't win |

Quintana is stronger than you think. This guy dropped Froome on way to Alp DHeuz and closely matched him on Mt. Ventox despite of being out for 10 kms extra.
Anyway Quintana will have to win by over 5 min just to prove all here that he was still strong irrespective of that stage!! |

I am not saying that Quintana isn't strong. He is the best pure climber in the world right now.
But he wouldn't have won by a 2 min. margin yesterday if they had started the Val Martello climb in one big group.
When Hesjedal only loses 7 secs, and Rolland completely cracks and loses 1'13, then Uran, Aru, Majka and Pozzovivo would never have lost 2 mins on that final climb alone.
That's what I have said. Don't try to claim that I'm in any way disputing the skills of Quintana. |

Where did those extra minutes come from, then? Did they give up?
