GreenEdge domination. Well at least the number of riders in the top 10. In the road race they obviously totally failed.
Docker not in a good shape. Although he wouldn`t have had a good chance in such a sprint finish probably.
The sprint was really strange, as the riders who started it from the front blocked the ones behind them, with Tanner being the single lucky one managing to find a gap.

Interesting results in Australia. GreenEdge fail at start, but save it at the end. Now let's hope 1T4i going to dominate TdU Good luck
Yeah, Greenedge are probably very disappointed with the road race outcome. But weirdest of all was that none of their riders caught the break, or tried to attack up the hill. I guess they were all going for Goss. TdU should be entertaining indeed!

There was nothing Docker could do in the Champs... but the real races are coming soon.
I certainly am.
I'm looking forward to the next races too!

Great story. Like the idea of doing transfers and team changes yourself. If there's one part Cyanide never managed to get right...
Also like the outcome of your 2011 Tour haha ;-)
Good luck with 1T4i or 'project' as Harmon calls it, in 2012
Wow, thanks ruben! Very nice to hear.
And also glad that you like the transfers. I'm just fed up with Cyanide's crappy PCM-esque transfers, so I figured it would be nicer to do it myself.
Oh, and I knew you'd like the Tour. But Gesink is after all the second best climber in the world in this career, now that Contador is gone.
As always this early in the season, the whole team is far from top form. However, we have faith in newly arrived Martens to do something here. Also in the sprints we should have a smaller chance, with Bozic being the man we're expecting the results from.
Ridiculously strong starting field here, with Samuel Sánchez, Luca Paolini and Edvald Boasson Hagen being the crème de la crème. As you also can see, the game apparently doesn't see our chances as that big, but we're confident that we can prove them wrong.
Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 1
Things kick off down here in Adelaide with an easy day for the riders. A short, flat day between Geeps Cross and Clare. This year's first serious mass sprint is to be expected, and with Mark Cavendish present, we all know how this normally should end.
Everything looked like usual when the leadout began, with Mark Cavendish getting the perfect one from his new Sky team. However, the British champion was not able to respond when the other main sprinters, and mainly Gert Steegmans, launched up alongside him, leaving victory for the Belgian. Bozic just missed the Top 10 after starting the sprint from a bad position.

Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 2
Stage two takes us to the hills, and the famous Stirling stage. The well-known uphill finish is as usually present in the race, giving an opportunity for both hilly sprinters and punchers.
What we thought of as a "way too early move" proved to be the decisive one, as Vodafone's Steven Kruijswijk could solo home over the last few kilometres, just fending off the late comeback from Mathias Kessler and a, too our delight, very strong Martens, with the three of them also moving up to the overall podium places. The P crossed the line half a minute later, led by Kruiswijk's team mate Johnny Hoogerland.

Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 3
Back on the flat again with day number three, providing another opportunity for the pure sprinters. Sky are probably interested in keeping the field together, to give Cavendish a second chance.
An attack from Martens at the very top of the tiny little grade rise just before the final leadout could begin completely left the sprinters teams gasping, while our punchy German held off a desperate try to pull him back from Kruijswijk and Matthew Hayman for our first victory of the season. Mark Renshaw took the mass sprint, half a minute behind the late escapee trio, which allowed Martens to move past Kessler in the overall, and up to second.

Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 4
Stage four looks like an easy one, but with the hard climb up Mengler's Hill in a late part of the day, the organizers figured it would be more exciting to call it hilly, and with that also naming it as an opportunity for the overall contenders to battle it our for more seconds.
It turned out to be one of the more sleepy days in the race. A breakaway stayed away all the way to the finish, where Garmin's Koldo Fernández unsurprisingly outgunned his ten escapee mates for the victory. Bagdonas as 6th today moved up to 4th overall, with all the other members of the group also making the first ten overall. Kruijswijk however, kept his lead.

Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 5
For the first time in the race's history, stage five finishes atop the famous Willunga Hill instead of a long way after it. As we saw irl, this new version created much bigger gaps than the old one, which secures us a thrilling battle for the overall victory.
Martens marked Kruiswijk up the final ascent, and therefore didn't have the legs to respond when Kessler came from behind with a vicious strike of speed. The German went on to win the stage, while also the ochre jersey managed to crack Martens in the finale, more or less wrapping up the overall victory. Bagdonas fell to 6th overall.

Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 6
A day of celebration for Steven Kruijswjik on the streets of Adelaide, while Martens also gets to celebrate, taking second overall and winning the points classification as long as they stay on their bikes on the fast, flat sprinters' day.
Again a breakaway succeeded. Today it was BMC's fast Italian Elia Rigotto who got the better of his breakaway companions at the finish, beating closest rivals Maxim Iglinski and De Kort in the sprint. Kruiswijk, Martens and Kessler all secured their overall podium places.
We're obviously hoping for our big star Van den Broeck to place himself nicely in the overall, using the two mountain stages. We also have Coppel as co-leader, while Kluge will focus on the eight flat stages.
Unless one of few other decent climbers participating here is in super shape somehow, this should be an easy victory for us. With riders like Lechuga, Valjavec and Duarte being the most prominent names here, it doesn't look like this will be much of a challenge for the startlist's number one.
Le Tour de Langkawi - Stage 1
A short criterium on the island of Langkawi to get things started. It might look a slight bit hilly from the profile, but in reality they're more of speedbumps, slightly lowering the speed in the peloton. For a few metres, that is.
Once at the top of the last "climb" up the famous speedbump, we realised a sudden heavy drop of speed in the peloton. We wasted no time and sent our young Danish prodigy Martin Therkildsen on the move immediately. To our surprise, no teams started to chase, allowing MT to solo home over the last few kilometres, eventually to celebrate his first pro win in his first ever pro race!

Second day of racing, second day of flat. Another easy day for the riders, this time surely without the sprinters teams messing up the finale by stopping to push the speed at the front. Mass sprint for sure.
Mass sprint indeed, with old man Jimmy Casper proving to be the fastest to hit the line, picking up an easy, dominant victory. Kluge never really got into contention and had to settle for a lower place, just inside the ten.

Le Tour de Langkawi - Stage 3
Very similar to the day before, with some easier climbing during the first half of the stage, and then a flat, easy run-in towards what, most likely, will end up with another all out mass sprint finish.
Dèjá-vu yesterday, with Casper showing that his win 24 hours ago wasn't just a lucky shot, by taking it from the sprint again, this time against Kristof Goddaert and Ian Wilkinson. Kluge felt sick during the day, and therefore decided not to sprint, thus no Projects among the Top 10.

Le Tour de Langkawi - Stage 4
After three days of flat, we finally hit the Malaysian mountains. A seriously hard day lies ahead, with the second half of the race being more or less uphill all the way. We might still have a less exciting stage, as everyone aiming for overall glory is targeting tomorrow's MTF.
After great work from the entire team, top favourite Van den Broeck managed to crack everyone with a blistering attack up the second of the two main climbs during the day. He then managed to push out his lead to the second group to almost a minute. Prominent names in that group included Daniel Moreno and Fabio Duarte, and also our Jérôme Coppel.

Le Tour de Langkawi - Stage 5
We showed yesterday that it will require something very special for someone to steal the overall victory from Van den Broeck, but if someone has the legs, then they've got their opportunity here. The long, steep climb up to Genting Highlands will seal the overall for good, bearing a crash in the next stages.
If there was any doubt after yesterday, that vanished today. Van den Broeck once again left the rest in the dust, winning dominantely for the second consecutive day. Moreno again led home the closest followers, over two minutes behind the day's superior winner, with Coppel not far behind him.

Le Tour de Langkawi - Stage 6
The GC battle is now over, so we move back to the lower terrain, for the first of five flat remaining stages. Another mass sprint is to be expected.
The early breakaway made it all the way to the line, which Imanol Erviti crossed first, after gunning out his thirteen companions, and mainly Juan José Lobato and Cyrille Heymans in the final sprint. The big main field finished just over four minutes later.

Le Tour de Langkawi - Stage 7
Four days left, and all of them looking just like today. Flat, flat, flat.
Successful breaky again, today with Champion System's Walter Proch picking up a prestigious victory from the sprint. Joel Zangerle and William Dugan rounded out the podium, while GC stayed the same.

Le Tour de Langkawi - Stage 8
Yet another day of flat. A bit more interesting than the earlier ones however, as the finish is uphill. Yes, ever so slightly, but an uphill finish is always nice to watch.
Finally back to the mass sprints, and back to Casper, who once again proved to be the fastest, taking his third stage win in this race. Kluge improved a bit today, and actually hit the Top 5, in a close battle with Mikhaylo Khalilov and Mateusz Komar.

Le Tour de Langkawi - Stage 9
I think I've described a stage like this before. Flat, flat, flat. Nothing more to say about it really. Most likely another mass sprint.
Finally Casper showed signs of being beatable, by not being able to come around Bobbie Traksel in the finale, leaving victory for the Landbouwkrediet man. Kluge again improved, this time up to fourth.

Le Tour de Langkawi - Stage 10
At last, we've reached the end of this almost two week long stage race. All the flat stages after the two dramatic mountain stages really gets boring after a while. Now Van den Broeck just has to stay on his bike to secure overall victory!
Just like yesterday, Traksel was the first to hit the line, edging out Goddaert and Wim Stroetinga. Kluge's pretty low fitness once again prevented him from coming any further than a decent Top 5. Oh well, at least we took the overall!
