And that is one of what I assume would be many reasons why you are not a sports director 1 he is clearly blowing his stomach out as a joke 2 Obviously Belkin and Bos rate him as a good lead out rider who would come cheap now with his age. Every team needs riders like that, they can't all be stars and up and coming talent.

Dunno how we view it, but Belkin and Bos credit Brown a lot for his positioning and leading out. He's experienced and knows his way around last km's.
He may seem and looks useless, but I am sure the team and it's main sprinter know much better than we do
And as we know, Belkin has a really good leadout, it's not like Bos is one of those sprinters constantly complaining that they were boxed in.....
...oh wait

Wasn't Brown the one who took down half the peleton in Turkey, including the crowd barriers? Good lead-out
Nah, he's a hard worker and probably doesn't demand to much (loan, certain races he wants to ride etc.).
Lotto is indeed signing a lot of riders, so I wonder who will leave. Van De Walle and Neyens are the first that come to my mind. Van De Walle was a good domestique but he's getting old and isn't as good as he used to be.
And Neyens is a long time with Lotto but now he's 28 and he definitelly isn't going to improve any more. I don't even know what kind of rider he is, he barely finishes in the top 50.
Henderson is also old but he's still doing his job well. Lotto shouldn't replace him until they found another lead-out for Greipel. I even think that Lotto will be the team where Greg will ride his last seizon.
And I also have questions about the role of Van Lijen. He was once one of the many young Dutch talents but doesn't seem to reach his full potential, allthough that's partially to blame to injuries.
Cordeel and Bulgac aren't the most talented riders either, but they're still young and can still improve themselves. |

Yeah, because I actually am old enough for that. |

Danny Pate extends with Sky. I guess it's for one year more.

Despite all the joking, this proves that he's of amazing value and a super domestique
- or he knows their dirty secrets?

Worlds win is overrated.
It's certainly an honor and a goal for many riders to plan their season around. What I don't like about it is it being a one-off race with inconsistent courses from year to year, which sets up a preselection for rider type.
It would be nice if the world championship was a multi-day race that had a flat stage, a climbing stage, and a time trial stage. Maybe even a cobbled stage. Then the WC would be the rider who demonstrates the best overall proficiency in all types of situations faced by road riders. |

I'd hate to see that. Then the chances of outsiders would be 0. If it would be a stage race, we'd see the same contenders every year. A sprinter would never be world champion, for example. |

What if they had separate categories of WC.... They already have a TT WC. What about a sprint WC and a climbing WC?
I don't like that fact that the course for that year's WC preselects what type of rider is likely to win.

well the course of the Olympic Road Race would preselect that a sprinter would win right (no sure, don't really remember the profile) and I won't call Vinokourov a sprinter

What would be better for the Worlds was that the maximum riders for a team (even Spain, Italy...) was 6 riders instead of 9 |

Seperate categories won't be nice to me.
Rather make the profiles of the WC vary a bit more. Not hills everytime(though I have to say that this year's profile is tougher than last year).
Throw a cobbled stage & (small) mountain summit finish in the mix a little more often maybe.

Well we had a "easy" WC when Cav won, would love to see a cobble and Mountain WC, this years will be interesting

Hoogerland is linked to Lotto-Belisol and Cantwell is linked to Belkin.

Let's make that "Cantwell has offered himself to Belkin and Nico Verhoeven was polite enough to say that there are many interesting riders on the transfer market, but they would think about it" |
