I don't get why Gesink was working with Valverde, if he knew he would be outsprinted. He should have let Valverde do the effort.

Horner had to be caught. And Valverde only just beat Gesink for 2nd

Peraud is my favorite for the TT
Also, Gesink looked like a blind squirrel on jet skis on that descent. He came close to losing it about three times.

I had overlooked the GC, I hadn't see Horner was 12th.

Gesink nearly beat Valverde in the sprint, anyhow both wanted to catch Horner. Great ride from Horner, nice change for him to be riding for himself. Was a bit unlucky there.
Gesink vs Valverde vs Horner on the Time Trial will be interesting for sure.
Super riding from Euskatel also, Txuretta, Sanchex and Inxausti.
Not sure what to make of the ride be Andy Schleck is he just testing himself? |

Schleck is the same thing year after year: only the Ardennes and Tour de France. That's quite annoying.

Quite.
I'm laughing at him and his brother, though. Skipping a Giro that has a course like this just for classics and Tour that he can do any year?
Frank's going to end his career without any GTs and there's a chance Andy might as well. And one day they're going to look back and marvel at how dumb they've been.

Respect for Chris Horner, 38 years old...
Gesink doing what he always does, riding as hard as he can for the entire climb, ofcourse people jump away from your back then, but he did well.
Valverde needs the award for wheelsucker of the year

Wheelsucker of the year, who can drop Gesink just by going a bit harder on a straight downhill? Yeah. Sure.

He didn't drop him, he sprinted straight out of his wheel after letting Gesink do the work for kilometers.
That isn't too hard. In fact, that is an added extra award for wheelsucking and then profiting. Almost exact copy of Evans/Ventoux 2008 vs Gesink.

That is so lame, how can you possibly disagree?
Valverde was sitting on Gesink's wheel the entire climb, and large parts of the downhill as well, when Horner/Sanchez where in sight, he simply sprinted to the group, the same way he did on the flat final part of La Pandera in the Vuelta 09.
Has nothing to do with nationality, go watch the video yourself, it will be up on youtube in minutes probably |

There you go, it proves what I just said. You can watch and rewatch it as many times as you like, it will still turn out the same.
At 2km to go, Valverde takes over for the first time, but quickly Gesink takes over again
Starting at 6:04 in the video, Valverde is standing on the pedals and keeps sprinting and sprinting till he is in the first group. Thus. Exactly what I said. Where am I being chauvinistic? It's the simple truth, the video shows it. You can either be a dick about it or admit you were wrong
I know I have my name against me, but playing the 'you're chauvinistic' card here is really unfair and lame.

Well firstly, you may have decided for yourself that whenever they werent on camera, Gesink was leading Valverde - but you cant possibly know that.
And what about 4:45-5:10 on the video. Valverde is leading Gesink there. We see them again at 5:30-5:42 with Gesink in front, before Valverde takes over again and after around 20 seconds, Gesink cant keep up with his pace

Because Valverde is sprinting as you can clearly see.
Gesink was leading the whole climb, that was on video in part 1 (which can be found if you click the youtube link).
The part where Valverde takes over is after the climb... So he has been sitting in Gesink's wheel since 5km before the finish... that's, yes, 3km of wheelsucking |

But while youre probably right, it being Valverde afterall, how do you know that when they cut to Horner and Sanchez, Valverde wasnt then relaying on the climb, only for Gesink to take over again just before the cameras cut back?

The Rabo DS reports Valverde hasn't been out of Gesink's wheel on the climb. And on the videos we didn't see anything else either. Valverde simply never led on the climb. Fact. |

On this one, i'm with you.
edit: Never mind, there's not a lot of time Valverde is leading Gesink on video, but there is certainly moments when it is happening having just rewatched the entire climb to try and put an end to this dumb argument.

I'm not a dutchman actually. My mum's family is originally from France (Beaumont), and my dads origins are in Mettingen, Germany (Lampe).
So I'm a German/Frenchy. So I am completely objective, see? |
