To a guy like Landis, appearance is everything. His deeply religious parents aren't talking to him. If he had miraculously managed to have gotten an "innocent" verdict, his family would embrace him back.
And to Landis, that means everything.
That, plus he'll always win gobs more money riding for Rock Racing, so spending money wasn't much of a problem.

Cândido Barbosa wins by using the Waghlon "zig-zag blocking" technique. He get disqualified every time he does that, but not this year.
Why? simple. He rides for a team owned by an organisation that also owns the Volta...
fuck Barbosa. I hate him. I'd like for once that a DB maker would realise he's slow as fuck ever since he decided to become a climber. 74 sprint is too much for him.

He wasn't talking to his parents that whole year anyway, he had a bad relationship with his family ever since he turned pro. How the hell would he know that some dumbfuck named Michael Ball would come into the sport with that big of a budget and hire as many past dopers as possible?

Great riders can ALWAYS get teams after returning as long as they don't accuse anyone other than themselves and keep the omerta going. So it's not about Michael Ball. Also, Landis' relationship with his parents was fine. He's said so himself that after he left for Europe they finally understood him. It was the doping scandal that changed that.
Especially because when hearing the news of the positive test, Landis' father in law and best friend commited suicide, and the family blamed Floyd for it.

So what youre saying is that Michael Ball is hiring as many past dopers as possible.
One rider Ball has recently hired is Floyd Llandis.
But Landis wasnt doped?
Nice contradiction

That, plus he'll always win gobs more money riding for Rock Racing, so spending money wasn't much of a problem. Not sure... Just like Lance Armstrong or Tyler Hamilton, he didn't confess anything. There's always a part for doubt that way. What if the tests would be wrong ? What if it was a conspiracy because he's American/Mormon/a Phonak rider/whatever and the French/Europeans are jealous ? Nobody with common sense will believe him, but there are enough people without common sense in the world...
It's more lucrative for him and doesn't harm his image as much to look like somebody who always denied and may have been condamned for things he didn't do than to admit he cheated. |

Well it's miraculous that his parents talked to him even before he was convicted. His family is Mennonite, which means they are a brand of Christians who don't believe in using many of the modern conveniences we use today, and they basically live like people did in America during the late 1700's. And when Mennonite children become teenagers, they are allowed to experience modern life for a period of time, and if they decide to join the modern world, opposed to keeping the old lifestyle, they are allowed to leave, but usually that means that the family doesn't have any communication with them.
Landis was lucky to have a family that accepted his view, and he destroyed that.
I see Mennonite/Amish people every day, one of the local bike shops is run by a Mennonite family, and it takes a LOT to piss them off, they didn't even seem phased when some teenagers burnt the local Mennonite schoolhouse down.
If Landis could push his own family over the edge, he's not coming back. |

cyclingnews is your friend. You just need to know some small information about what your looking for first.
Not saying that isso is constantly on cyclingnews, but yeah you can get about 3 years worth of results from there still!

Race results are from a few select sites (although I do remember a few), definitely. Everything else is memory.
I can assure you I only have that kind of memory for useless stuff, never for what matters.

you can get way more, if you know exactly where to go. In some dark deep corners I've gotten such stuff as pics from Vuelta a Asturias 1996, Giro 1996, etc.

I'm not talking about results, I'm referring to the small things that the common cycling fan forgets after some months.

Also, about the bikes themselves, mechanically, I know jack squat. I know from experience where I'm supposed to push with my feet
