Tour de Wallonie – Stage 4

Stage Preview

Once again a flat stage, but today it was a short one. Just like the other stages we got a breakaway, but this time the other teams weren’t interested in a mass sprint, so we had to close the gap.

It wasn’t very easy to close it. Fortunately we got some help with twenty kilometres to go, but then it was too late.

Segers surprisingly won the sprint of the breakaway in front of better sprinters like Sutton and Chaigneau. The peloton finished a bit later than the breakaway.

One day to go, can Rodrigues hold the leader jersey?

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Tour%20de%20Wallonie/Stage%204/PCM1370_zpse470e0c8.jpg

This jersey is in the pocket! Once again we win a mountain classification. We have won so many already.

And of course we have the young rider jersey as well, which will be worn by Remuzgo again.

Today's Winner

Rodrigues looking in control Smile

MrUfo87
sutty68: Yes, he's looking very strong and it doesn't look like he'll be in trouble during the last stage, but everything can happen. Last year he won the fifth stage. Would be very nice if he could repeat that. Wink

The final stage of the Tour de Wallonie wasn’t a very long one. Last year Rodrigues surprisingly won this stage. Could he do it again this year?

It was a quiet stage and actually the same happened as usual: a breakaway appeared and the peloton was closing the gap. This time the breakaway got caught. Within the final few kilometres there were some riders who attacked, and Rodrigues was one of them. Unfortunately he attacked a bit later than the others, so just like the second stage he came too late for the stage victory.

Dylan van Baarle took the stage victory and he moved up to the sixth place in the GC. Rodrigues finished third.

And that means that Rodrigues wins the Tour de Wallonie! What a great result! Our goal was Top-10, but surprisingly we took the overall victory. That’s great! His fourth victory of the season. Remuzgo ended 7th in the GC, while Watson took 12th position.

He also won the mountain classification. Last year we won that as well, but then with Rogers.

Rodrigues also won the young rider classification. It’s been a great race for us!

Great to see Rodrigues take home the Title Grin as well as the Mountains and Young Rider Classifications too Smile

MrUfo87
sutty68: He has done an awesome job indeed. We didn't expect this but it's very nice to see him taking the classification. Smile

Tour de France 2014 | London - Paris

Alberto Contador won the Tour de France this year. He beat Froome and a surprising Andy Schleck for the title. De Gendt surprised to win the prologue in London, where the Tour started this year. After that we got many stages where sprinters decided who won. Cavendish won three of the first five stages. Démare got the help from Kittel, because he helped Kittel in the Giro. Unfortunately for him he only won one stage but it looks like he’ll take more the next years. Boasson Hagen took De Gendt’s jersey after the sixth stage. Also Greipel won a stage, but Cavendish was very strong this Tour.

The Tour really started at stage eight. Kolobnev won the stage and Contador took the jersey. The next day Froome won the stage to Tignes and he took over the yellow jersey from Contador. Nibali won the next stage to Briançon and then we got a few quiet stages. Engoulvent won a stage from inside the breakaway, Cavendish won a mass sprint and Van Avermaet was the strongest in a hilly stage. The 14th stage was the time-trial at Albi. Wiggins was the strongest there and Froome kept the leader jersey. After the time-trial we got three mountain stages, which were surprisingly won by Gilbert, Chavanel and Gerrans. After the 16th stage Contador took over the leader jersey and since then he increased the gap to Froome.

The 18th and 19th stage were flat stages before the big final at stage 20. Cavendish won once again the sprint and Gerrans took his second stage after he was the strongest from a breakaway. The 20th stage was a 53 kilometre long time-trial from Cognac to Angoulême. Although Froome is the better time-trialer Contador managed to hold his yellow jersey. One day later he secured it on the Champs-Elysées, where we once again didn’t got a mass sprint. Last year Roy won with a breakaway and this year El Fares did the same.

The other classification weren’t very sensational. Cavendish almost wore the whole Tour the green jersey. The mountain jersey switched a few times from person but eventually Gilbert won it quiet easy. Pinot was by far the best young rider and he won the white jersey easily.

The Rider
The team got another good haul of jerseys at the NCs. Smile Rodrigues could win about 20 NCs at this rate!

The Portuguese champ was great to win the GC at Wallonie. A shame the AI is quite passive for a lot of time it looks like as I am sure Rodrigues could be winning with the competition awake and trying harder. Wink

Has Cavendish caught Merckx for Tdf stage wins yet?

MrUfo87
The Rider: I didn't expect him to win it this year, but it's a nice achievement. I actually hoped on some 'new' nc's but 'unfortunately' we 'only' won the ones we won last year as well.
Maybe it's a bit easy for him but it's still a great victory. Wink
A fast calculate gives me an amount of 33 stages, so one stage left till he beats Merckx' record.

July was a very quiet month for us but we still managed to take a nice overall victory at the Tour de Wallonie. August will be a very busy month. We’ll start soon with Paris – Corrèze, after that we’ll stay in France for the Tour de l’Ain. Then we split up the team: one part goes to the Volta a Portugal, the other part flies to the United States for the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. And immediately after that ends we’ll start in Italy for the Settimana Ciclistica a Lombarda by Bergamasca. Cycling from the first till the last day of the month, who doesn’t like that? It’ll be very busy but we’re looking forward to it. Oh, I totally forgot to tell that we’ll get some trainees who’ll ride some of these races. I’ll introduce them soon to you.

Some nice races for the team to get its teeth into in August Smile

sutty68: A busy month, but there are indeed many opportunities for the team here. Smile

Trainees

I actually forgot to tell you, sorry for that, but from now on we have some new trainees. They’ll all start racing this month because we have plenty races to ride. So let me introduce our new stars!

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Stagiares/BaumannUdo_zpsb888819a.jpg

Udo Baumann

We’ve mainly contracted this German rider for our sponsor Porsche, but of course he has some talent. He’s a sprinter and we really hope he’ll do well. The three sprinters we signed last season, Hahn, Massot and Garcia Sánchez didn’t actually improve as we hoped so we hope Baumann will do better.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Stagiares/CartyGustavo_zpsd4b0bec0.jpg

Gustavo Carty

Once again the Hot Wheels – Porsche talents race was won by a Colombian. Gustavo Carty seems to be a good talent and hopefully he’ll follow his compatriot who already got his first pro victory. Let’s see how Carty will do.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Stagiares/FilipMatej_zps5f55ab21.jpg

Matej Filip
The Czech Matej Filip doesn’t look like a big talent on first sight, but we hope he can improve a lot and show us some nice things. He’s young compared to some other riders so he still got some time.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Stagiares/GowanThomas_zpsc73b6b8a.jpg

Thomas Gowan

This Irishman is a very big talent. He’ll be the youngest rider of the team but within a few years he’ll be one of our leaders. We think he has a great potential and hopefully he’ll show us some good results the next few years.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Stagiares/LeeJesse_zps5cd2eee5.jpg

Jesse Lee

Maybe the biggest talent we signed, or at least the best one at the moment. He’s already very good and also still twenty years old. He has a great potential as well and it’s nice to have such a talented American. Our sponsor will like that.

tmr96
There are coming again some nice talents to hotwheels porsche.
Especially Jesse Lee. Gustavo Carty looks also like a nice talent. I'm also curious to Thomas Gowan, how he as youngest rider can develop.
i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Graphicsbanner2_zpsecb3da47.png

The Rider
It seems the team are signing riders, never-endingly! I thought Garcia Sanchez was doing quite well.

- Nice to see tmr96 is still alive. Pfft

MrUfo87
tmr96: It'll be very interesting to see how they develop, but I'm happy that we've signed some great talents. Smile

The Rider: Garcia Sánchez is also doing very well, especially with his overall victory at the Tour de Picardie, but we're a bit disappointed about his development at the moment. We hoped he'd already be better, but of course we won't give too much pressure and give him the time to develop.

Paris – Corrèze – Stage 1

Stage Preview

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Paris%20-%20Correze/Stage1_zpsaa1f7b41.jpg

This race contains two stages. Today is a flat one, and tomorrow a hilly one, although today’s stage also could be a hilly one, with an uphill finish. It’ll be interesting. Two trainees are racing here: the Colombian winner of the talents race Carty and the American number five Lee.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Paris%20-%20Correze/Stage%201/PCM1382_zps0094cda3.jpg

The peloton didn’t want to let Rodrigues go, which isn’t very strange, so we had Remuzgo in the breakaway. He took some mountain points during the stage but it wasn’t enough to take the mountain jersey. The peloton caught the breakaway and with a few kilometres to go several cyclists attacked. Watson was smart and tried to follow them.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Paris%20-%20Correze/Stage%201/PCM1383_zps957c2be3.jpg

So Watson was in a great position, but unfortunately he couldn’t overtake one rider. Steensen won the stage, while Watson finished on a good second place. Meanwhile our trainees weren’t in the peloton anymore, just like Aguilar. Aguilar doesn’t have a great season so far. He didn’t raced a lot compared to some other riders. We hope he’ll come in good shape soon, so he can ride some nice results during the final months of the season.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Paris%20-%20Correze/Stage%201/PCM1384_zps724a3d66.jpg

Watson is the leader in the young rider classification. I’m curious to see what we can do tomorrow, in the hilly stage.

Today's Winner

Nice start from Ian in France Wink and lets hope the trainees turn out to be good additions too Smile

sutty68: Hopefully the second and final stage here in France will be as good as this one. I think some trainees are very good additions but we'll see. Wink

Paris – Corrèze – Stage 2

Stage Preview

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Paris%20-%20Correze/Stage2_zps7ed5a21b.jpg

The second stage was a hilly one. We hoped to show our self, but things didn’t happen as we wanted.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/2014/Paris%20-%20Correze/Stage%202/PCM1385_zps4609a7d9.jpg

The weather was very bad but that doesn’t dissuade some riders to attack. Remuzgo was in the breakaway just like yesterday. He tried to take mountain points and go for the mountain classification, but unfortunately there were some stronger riders in the breakaway. Remuzgo was able to take some mountain points, but two others passed him in the classification. He ended third in the mountain classification.

Meanwhile Carty fell on the descent. Fortunately he could continue, but he didn’t have the energy to ride to the front of the peloton. The breakaway got caught and there were several attacks. Chaoufi, who is the winner of the mountain classification, was leading as the last rider of the breakaway. There were several attacks and also Rodrigues attacked, but he got caught. Maybe it was better to wait instead of attacking.

Pardilla won the stage for MTN-Qhubeka and he also took the GC. Most of our riders weren’t in the peloton anymore, just like the number two in the GC Ian Watson. So he lost his place in the GC and the young rider jersey. We now finished 14th in the GC with Rodrigues, which is a bit disappointed. After our good result yesterday we hoped to continue that today, but unfortunately we couldn’t. We’ll stay in France, because our next race is the Tour de l’Ain.

Today's and Overall Winner
