The surprise of the day is absolutely Iban Mayo, can't describe how fun it is to have him back again. Michael Rasmussen did a great job too, getting over all those three mountains, such a great performance. C. Moreau impressed me, even I didn't thought that he could hold the form from Juni, but it was quite fun to see that he is there when he should. Cadel Evans did a great job too, almost Jan Ullrich, sitting in saddle. Such a fun stage today, and I hope it will last. |

That sucks that McEwen, Napolitano and Feillu are gone, the first 2 were in my team for Justin's game and Feillu was having an awesome tour.
The stage was very good today, I only wish that the Moreau group had worked together better, that Contador had not had a technical problem, that Rogers hadnt crashed, and that Valverde hadnt come back when he was dropped.
Bring on Tuesday!

I've had McEwen down for leaving the tour since stage 4 now, he hasn't been sprinting well at all after the stage 1 crash. I hope to see him back next year because i'm going to miss his sprints some what.

i feel sorry for McEwen he is a fantastic sprinter and a champs elysees will not be the same without him
impressed by Mayo and Moreau today not that Spanish twat though (you know who i mean) stealing the 3rd place from under Moreau's nose after sitting on his wheel for the entire climb, at least the others had the decentsy to sit on his wheel right to the finish
also feel sorry for Contador and Rogers but Contador fought back incredibly his acceleration was supreme

Bernhard Kohl finished 25 minutes back. hopefully my (admittedly insistent) point about him being massively overrated is now proven.

something's not right with Casar and Antón. they're not all that great climbers, but finishing in the gruppetto is strange.

Its not that he couldnt take the pace of the pack, he was up front in the break for most of the time, but I guess he just cracked big time on the climb up to Tignes.

notice that even Knees who is immensely tall and heavy and in no way a climber, was in the break and lost less than 10 minutes. I'll be looking at Kohl's other results closely.

To answer you question on Anton, a Eusakltel rider fell coming down the Roseland, the commentators never said who it was, but as he finished in the autobus im guessing it was him. Especially as Zubeldia, Azterloza, Txurruka and Gerrikagoitia never mentioned falling in the post race interviews.
As for Casar and Dessel I have no idea what happened to them.
