GP Jef-Scherens
Well, this is new for me, but I guess I'll have to get used to it by 2014: I'm here to defend a title.
The competition is much stronger this year, with Cancellara, Breschel, Flecha... But my confidence is extremely good and this is my terrain, I took the win last year and I would not be satisfied with any other place today!
I sent Roeland Van Hende in the breakaway of the day, I had a plan.
And then, with 35km left to go and with the help of Stannard, I accelerate on the cobblestones.
I end up in the front group and Van Hende does excellent work bringing me to the next cobbled section very quickly, where I thanked and left him.
A bit later, I got joined by Cancellara and Breschel. We started looking at each other and even others neared.
But we went to the sprint and I already knew what was going to happen.
I've been training uphill a lot more lately and it's definitely paying off! I continue my glory-season with another win. This has been the best year of my life.
Last season this was my final race, but now I still have Britain and Franco-Belge planned. Let's hope I continue my killing-streak until October, because you never know what the new season will bring.

That brings my total wins this season up to 11, that's a lot!
Eric is up next, in Canada. He's only had 2 wins this season (stage win + GC Tirreno), let's hope he can make that 3 or more!
Bye! |

@Schleck96: Sorry to hear that
@fcancellara: I know...
@PCM rulezz: Well, the victory was waiting for Jelle, but a second place was possible (however, he didn't have too much energy left after dragging Jelle on those hills) |

I'll have a shitstorm of people saying he's got 85 in everything now
Cancellara was quite weak in this race, I think his form isn't good yet, he's probably peaking for WC and this is probably his first race in preparation for that. But it was awesome beating him anyway |

Great win, you just beat one of the best riders in the peleton.
Are Eric and/or Stijn going to the WC?

@Miguel98: I think he's officially a beast now Thanks
@PCM rulezz: Thanks man Eric will be going to the WC, well, depending on the consequences of his fall, of course, and if he gets picked by the national coach. Stijn has already decided at the start of the season not to go because of the profile being too hilly. I'm sure he regrets that decision now, but it's too late, final pre-selection is already in |

@JuanMotr: Thanks Eric didn't finish the race. Hope he's alright for the Canadian WT races.
@TheManxMissile: I'm getting to know you
@ste_18: I know but like I already said, he's in a bad shape, I think he's building up for WC, and just started to get back into racing.
@dienblad: I switch between Normal and Hard. Don't know if it matters much for the story?
@sutty68: I hope all the way through the Tour of Britain

No, the profile is much too hilly so Stijn decided in January that he wouldn't ride WC. |
